How the hell would i get an hps streelight to work

So i was riding my bike at my local college and there was this "sweet rail" and it was a not a rail at all but a knocked over street lamp the bulbs were all intact and if i was to get one of these. How would i go about powering it? would i just screw it in to like a normal socket or it is much more complex some help would be appreaciated. cause i have no fuckin clue in this field

You need a ballast with any HID lamp the bulb alone won't do you much good. The more important question is how are you going to remove it without getting electrocuted?

Nah mang"s" you dont understand the reason i thought it was sweet rail is becuase it was completely off the mounts and going down this incline so it looked like a rail to ride my bike on but on closer inspection it was a street light and all thats covering the lights is 4 phillip head screws and a piece of plastic. and its not theft its obtaining!! oh yeah and were would i obtain one of these of ballasts and that i would buy

Yeah i did did a few double pegs and a feeble or 2, It was pretty slippery though I altmost killed myself went from like feeble to frame grind fucked up my new stolen heater. it dont matter though i cracked it on both the s-gussets

you guys really need to chill out the street lamp is knocked over, and its been like that for awhile because its all rusted up and stuff from people riding and skating it. And stealing stuff is a crime its true. But never commit more then two crimes at one time? Thats ironic you are growing marijuana and smoking it or distributing it. It IS theft! Thats how the police are gonna see it anyway. And karmha will bite you in the ass EVERY time!!! While I do not condone theft in any form, I certainly think that IF you are gonna steal, make it worth while. You cannot grow yer smoke in jail, and to even risk going to jail for stealing a light you were too cheap to buy states VOLUMES about ya!! Yeah, it's been knocked over for some time, and you'd PROBABLY never have an issue, but what if you DID get caught? It IS still and all city or county property, and thats how the authorities are gonna see it.
Find yerself a demolition company, and find out where they are demolishing a commercial warehouse or some building with high bay lights.
I found a site and got all the 400w and 1000w HPS and MH lights I could want for $40 a piece, reflectors and bulbs included. A little modification, and viola! Remote ballast grow lights!!!
Don't even RISK going to jail over some petty dumb shit. Kinda hard to hold yer head up when they ask ya "whatcha in for?"

sounds to me like your planning on stealing just the bulb and that sounds preaty dumb when you got no way to plug it in you dont even know if it;s hps or mh do ya it's probably gonna turn out to be a halogen and you'l be screewed even if it is knocked over, bad idea, hey wait isn't it ouy tax money that will replace what youu have stolen that sucks thanks a lot im being robbed sitting on my couch dumb idea forget about the ligh go buy one
