Last week on of the larger parties, D66, the party that has a good chance to win the elections next turn, proposed a new bill to keep growing and trade in cannabis still illegal, except for a restricted amount of growers who under strict conditions can get a grow permit to supply coffeeshops. By itself good news because it means it's going to be on the agenda more prominently next year with the elections and debates (in 2016 too).
Chances it will pass are pretty much zero. If it would pass, it would effectively mean the current MoJ, the main man responsible for the current anti-cannabis politics, will have to resign.
Now, next Monday there will be an emergency debate about that MoJ. He lied about a few things, like a deal between a previous MoJ and a drug lord over a decade ago. In short, they took all the assets including money from the drug lord, and eventually settled on the amount, and instead of getting 1.25million back, he got 4.7million. The MoJ says that's incorrect, while there was already some drama about it last year, and now the original receipt has been found and it turns out the MoJ is as dumb as we cannabis growers know he is and just flat out lying as well.
<= that's the asshole right there, MoJ, all proud in a small scale cannabis grow... nuts.
"MoJ wanted for killing the tolerance policy"
Before MoJ he was mayor of Rotterdam, second largest city (all grow shops closed this week...), where he closed a lot of coffeeshops.
Either way, other parties want him gone. There's politically one feasible way to do that, which would be to approve that grow permit law... that would require a major conservative christian party to vote for the bill while they want to close all coffeeshops entirely.
Nearly all mayors of cities that have coffeeshops signed an initiative for regulating cannabis grows and coffeeshop suppliers, but since a few years it's no longer the mayor who controls the cops, but they fall under the MoJ. That's why cops are raiding growers so fanatically even in areas that were normally grower, coffeeshop and grow shop friendly.
unlikely to happen in my lifetime but I've been under the radar for 30 years so what's another few
I should and could go back to Uruguay where I was born, perhaps a cottage there to spend the winter, I'd be living in perpetual summer as they're south of the equator
Nice, sounds like a good plan B. I have one of those too. Spain. It's where we go on vacation and to retire. Barcelona wants to be the new Amsterdam so bad, if Amsterdam keeps it up like this I'm going to have to give them a hand
