i don't trust ANY politician, no matter what party, until i have a chance to look at their voting record, and see who they've been taking contributions from.....and i usually don't think much more of them once i've done that.
most people seeking office are suspect to begin with, in my opinion. do they want to make a change for the better,or do they want to get into a position to further their on purposes? if you get a good person into office, they're going to be bombarded with lobbyist, all offering cash for favors.....how many will resist them? if they do resist them, do you think any of their colleagues, who haven't resisted, will support one thing they're trying to do?....Washington was built on a swamp, and it's turned into a septic tank......

It is naive to say that Republicans are the same as Democrats.
As I've said before, I reject your cynicism. There is nothing wrong with being skeptical of any one politician or any particular bill or legislation and I agree that some Democrats are probably no better than most Republicans. But my god, man. Really? The entire cast of Democratic legislators are about same as Republicans? Have you really looked at Democrat vs Republican voting records? I'll bet you haven't.
If you are able to recount all the crappy things that Republicans have done over the first few months to the past two years of Republican rule and compare what happened during the paltry 7 1/2 weeks Democrats controlled all three legislative bodies, an honest person would have to say there is a big difference.

no, i haven't looked at everyone's voting record. i have a hard enough time keeping up with politicians in my area and the freakshows that runs for president every four years.
you can reject my cynicism all you want to, not going to change a thing in the world for me. i am a cynic. the world has given me plenty of reason to be. i don't trust any of them, especially the ones that just got into office. i'm not a democracy, and they're all guilty till they prove themselves innocent to me.

I don't trust politicians in general either, yet... no, man the Republican party is so evil and toxic today it is disgusting. What they have adopted is a far right conspiracy theory driven angry bigoted crowd of people with no regard for factual information. It's beyond political ideological differences now. It's in the area of fascism now. This party, this President, and the people backing him are like a Cult. Fuck that. Voting Democrat is by far the lesser of two evils and the only way to bring some fucking sanity back.

Cynicism isn't the same as skepticism. Sure, be skeptical when you listen to a politician make promises. A skeptic looks at the objective facts. Objective facts show there are plenty of differences between Republicans and Democrats. I'm not even talking about corruption. I'm talking about differences between policy and actions taken by liberal and right wing US legislators. I'm talking about verifiable, objective facts and not belief.
A cynic just believes in bad intentions, conspiracies, "they are out to get me", regardless of the facts. Therein lies the difference and why your cynicism is a tool of the radical right. You realize that the cynical belief that there is no difference is between Republicans and Democrats discourages people from voting, don't you? Ask who benefits when that happens.
