Nice dude. That's really cool.I have a couple QB18 (V1) boards and I removed 4 red LEDs and replaced them with Luminus 460nm, recommended by @Stephenj37826 . Here are the different ratios of Blue : Red : DeepRed : FarRed across their models. I'm interested to see if this makes any difference in my next flowering round. I have been using the QB18 V1 throughout the entire flowering period for several grows now. I grow in a cold basement and my plants showed a huge benefit from the added red to my HLG600 3000K, especially in winter. But I've always felt I cold be missing something in the blues. Probably a minimal change but I do love to tinker with electronics.

Oh man, which version of hydrobuddy? I just went to find it recently after a suggestion. I could only find a version 1.62 and for windows (64bit) only. Which do you have and where did you get it? I found it pretty tricky to get working (and I didn't get it working perfectly). Have you seen this? https://www.rollitup.org/t/understanding-and-calculating-nutrient-ppm.995409/I use hydrobuddy to mix out my ferts, it takes a minute to figure it out but once you do it makes life easy....used to use megacrop v1/v2.... on jacks now as it gives me a bit more control/leaves me with a cleaner res.
Megacrop v2 is pretty low on mag and phos in my opinion and too high in K
I am also on 1.62.....All of your items are on the Main page tab ..... you have to add in your own fertilizers as it mostly comes with stock ferts such as calcium nitrate or magnesium sulfate sorta deal (no brands)Oh man, which version of hydrobuddy? Rollitup user created a nutrient profile calculator.
Greenleaf addressed someone saying something similar regarding V2 compared to V1 in another forum, I think, saying that there is more P, and Mag in V2, so that "doesn't make sense". But "on paper" it looks like it's a little low in phosphorus to me, too. But I'm only going off of the "Mel Frank" nutrient profile 'suggestion'.
Yup, I wanted to try jack for two reasons (other than cost); 1) As simple as can be, while still offering ability to manipulate some ratios. 2) Just elemental 'salts', with no organics, and 'clean', like you say.
I've found literally 1(!) shop where it can be found in canada. Pathetic.
Thanks for the screen shot. Replies are above in the quote.I am also on 1.62.....All of your items are on the Main page tab ..... you have to add in your own fertilizers as it mostly comes with stock ferts such as calcium nitrate or magnesium sulfate sorta deal (no brands)
I then add all my ferts i have around to substance selection... i would start out adding up a jacks 3-2-1 (concentrations from weight) and that should give you a good ballpark on what your ppms need to be for a heavy feeding plant, and then adjust based on what your plant wants or doesnt want.... I am reverse osmosis and DWC so my ratio is more like 1.5-1-1 g/gal, with 1ml per gal of calimagic............. i usually never run over 1.0 EC and need heavy magnesium to remove purple stems with LED
I will try and and follow your instructions here for hydrobuddy, thanks. There are so many setup configuration options that I don't know what are for/what to choose. I'm rarely on a windows machine though - and it's windows only.
Do you have a pic of the purple stem condition? Was it accompanied by any other symptom like leaf drooping (not clawing)? Or other strange leaf things?
I had to email jacks to order from them in canada.... a bit pricey (over 200$ after shipping for 25lb of 5-12-26 and 25lb cal nit) but i got enough fert to last me a lifetime
I've been everywhere (including contacting them several times, ongoing for a while now) trying to get it, hah. So that's kinda annoying - they just shipped it to you straight up? $200 for 50Lbs total (or say $250 with shipping or what?)?

Hello, I have some experience with COBs from few years ago but I am new to QBs.
Basically i want to know if i can run 4 of THESE with HLG-185H-C1050. It exceeds the driver limit by 2 volts but my guess is that wouldn't be a problem. Real question is can this board be run under 1080mA which is what the seller says is minimal.
If my math is correct that would come out to around 58mA per chip. Can LM301B run at that current or is 65mA minimal? If not what driver would you suggest to run 4 of these boards as efficient as possible. My thought was 4 of them run as low at nearly 200W to cover 2x2 or just a bit over that(somewhere between 60x60 and 70x70cm).
VDC | Current (mA) | Watts at Board | Lm/W at Board (55C) | μmoles/joule at Board (55C) |
45.72 | 500 | 22.86 | 206 | 3.00 |
46.98 | 1050 | 49.33 | 196.10 | 2.85 |
47.70 | 1400 | 66.78 | 190.50 | 2.77 |
48.96 | 2100 | 102.82 | 180.77 | 2.63 |
49.50 | 2400 | 118.80 | 177.50 | 2.58 |
49.86 | 2800 | 139.60 | 173.80 | 2.53 |
@pop22
Thank you for the reply. Can you please tell me why would you go HLG 240 over 185?
P.S. You say that it could be done with 25W per board so that means LM301B can be run lower than 65mA, right?
By what you posted @pop22 it says 47 volts at 1050mA which comes to 188V for 4 boards. And the driver has max output of 190V. Why would you think it's not an effective level to run boards at?
@captainmorgan What do you mean by that? Are counterfeit boards much worse? Is voltage on them lower, higher, not as consistent?
You found online stores with inventronics drivers, that sell to canada, and have actual stock? I don't believe it, haha.I bought from Mouser a couple of times. Great service. was able to call them in the morning to switch a driver model before it went out. When Mouser didn't have the 54 volt 185a drivers, I ordered from Digikey. Everything went smooth. Digikey are now spamming me though. Mouser did not. Next driver, Mouser gets my business.
On the HLG site there was a link to the spec test which showed which driver was tested with that fixture. I believe it was a constant current one.
I goggled Invertronics and found a couple of suppliers. 1 of them in Europe. All the pricing was reasonable. I ended up buying Meanwell at Digi-Key.

Where did you get 75watts?This might be really dumb question but.. If the hlg 550 v2 are 480w.. And theyre 4 qb288s.. And each board is a max of 75watts... Whats powering the other 180?
