Supreme Court draft opinion that would overturn Roe v. Wade published by Politico
The problem with feeding the culture wars is the rebound effect. Despite the pessimism of may, the republicans could be headed for an internal metaphorical blood bath before the election, and the Russians a real one. We will see what the summer brings, but I don't expect mere facts to change too many hearts and minds chaos among the assholes might just do the trick.

If the democrats can hold the house and increase in the senate a lot of thing can get done quickly. That might be difficult with the amount of election cheating and rigging Americas new fascist movement can muster. The right are using the tactics of psychological warfare on their own people and don't care about the country or it's people at all, they only care about power and keeping it.

If the democrats win they can simply legalize abortion and make it illegal for any state or individual to conspire to limit a woman's right to choose or limit access to reproductive health services. Cut them off at the fucking knees and allow them to be sued federally if they try. They don't need to change the court, they need to change the law, if the conservative court wants to make law, then pack it. Like the Bible, the constitution doesn't mention abortion at all, Jesus was silent on the subject.

i tend to think that them trying to fuck up RvW is the trigger it will take to get the democrats to add 4 justices to the court to rebalance it. if they have any sense, they'll load it with the youngest, most liberal justices they can find, to counteract the old bigots on it now.
if they had any sense whatsoever, they wouldn't wait one minute, they would already be acting on it.

The odds of this happening are very low. Many of the older dems in the house are calling it quits. Without an incumbent in the race, unless it's a really safe seat, some of those are going to turn red.

And if the GOP can't pick up one senate seat I would be very shocked.

Lol, welp, sounds great. I am a pretty big fan of conservatives being right there in your face with their shit. Don't let them hide behind some low tax small government excuse. I hope they culture war hard on this and their anti gay and trans stances. Make people take a hard look at themselves and their views.

This is the one area where the blue team has an advantage. Eight percentage points.

I think it could be more impactful than that even. When I think of people I know that are lifelong republican voters, well they all have a gay uncle or whatever that they care about. It's long been something where the Republicans didn't say the quiet part loudly, so it just sort of got swept under the rug, but this is a chance to force a reckoning between their christian coalition and the rest. If it becomes a central pillar of the party, as they seem to be going all in on culture wars instead of a platform, they will have to confront the issue. DeSantis gay Disney thing has been pretty enlightening to watch play out. The normal loud and proud people for all things republican have had to shut the fuck up.

Edit: racism was fine with these people, blacks are an "other" group to them. Sometimes their kids have mixed kids, for reasons I will never understand that normally wasn't an issue and didn't sway their views. Their gay brother/sister/cousin is a bigger fish to fry for them, it's a closer relationship.

Oh shit, the inlaw family whatsapp confirms my suspicions. If the Supreme Court makes this decision how long until they nullify people's gay marriages.
