The thing about compulsory is people who are not politically astute are voting..which was at least one reason we have Electoral College..mr 1700s farmer wasn't usually politically astute- he may not even have any schooling..someone had to keep them from going off the rails if they existed, which they didn't. Rails.
we would have to get rid of the electoral college system to instate a compulsory vote, which isn't going to happen any time soon.
we would also be inundated with idiotic votes from fucking morons who don't even know who the names on the pieces of paper in front of them are...much like many other countries seem to be...
i have always leaned towards a competency test...if you can't answer half a dozen random questions about prominent candidates and urgent issues, then you don't get to vote. rights come with responsibilities, and the right to vote comes with the responsibility to know what the fuck, and who the fuck, you are voting for....

@Sativied US is gonna 'move on The Netherlands like a bitch'

I‘m so much into soccer I had to read the title before I knew what you were talking about. I’ll be like wtf are the neighbors screaming about and wife will point out NL is playing. The little I do know is that our current team isn’t playing great and if the US wins it’ll be bad news for the bookies.

It's our literal touch of each other..our connection..those online get a metaphoric touch of their friends around the word.

Both of our countries are meeting for games not war.

So civilized.

It’s like a failing version of the arenas in Roman times, they public still ends up rioting. Plus, people and their flags… the whole representing your country in sports doesn’t make sense to me, like you said, it’s not war. I guess that sucks for me. I could like feel all chauvinistic every time I watch ice skating if I’d equate our skaters winning to my country winning and cared about that in the first place. That said, if you feel like watching good sports matches between US and NL, watch women’s volleyball. Ten minutes of that is more exciting than an entire soccer match.

So civilized.
Not a qualification I’d attach to dutch soccerfans but it’s Qatar and so far they seem to behave. Must be the zero alcohol beer.

Coffeeshop ban for tourists in Amsterdam is off the table. But, Stay away, Stay out! is Amsterdam’s new tourism campaign slogan. No, not some corny supposedly clever meant reverse psychology slogan to attract people, no catch, no pun, just stay away, shoo, git, no rooms available. Unless of course you‘re American or Chinese and willing and able to get ripped off everywhere you go, then you’re welcome.

Go one step further, Beach Volleyball. (are they still wearing those skimpy thongs?

The problem with soccer is the field is too big. If it were twice the size of a volleyball court it might look more like a rugby game.

no, each box is the $1000, wanna solve a little gun problem.....make the rounds or box of rounds more expensive, people will start rethinking bout shooting
Well..... that's not gonna solve it. Pandoras Box has been open for a while now.... accept it. Even if you stopped all gun and ammo sales right now... tomorrow,... it's not going to change anything. The guns have been here, and are still being produced on a massive scale since the first black powder gun was invented. Some people have hundreds of guns, 10's of thousands of rounds on hand... it's just too late.
The only possible solution I can think of to slow gun violence is the death penalty for unauthorized possession. Anything less, and your just trying to empty a boat with a hole in it with a turkey baster.

there is a way, people just haven't found the right combination of what will work and what won't...
