That is about choice of aimpoint.

They’re hitting within 10m of the chosen aimpoint.

I remember some frothy commentary here some months ago about Russian shit artillery. Here are counterdata.

Ukraine needs our late-tech weapons yesterday.
As has been reported, they do have shitty artillery, with no apparent plan to replace worn out guns and a chronic shortage of artillery officers who know how to shoot. The Ukrainians used and use the same guns as the Russians and they claim the M777 is much more accurate at exteme range than the 152mm is at it's medium range. So poorly maintained guns, a shortage of trained artillery officers and inferior weapons (now) is adding up. The Ukrainians are still using plenty of 152mm Russian artillery themselves, but it is being phased out as it is worn out, so that might explain some of the outliers. Also this ground has been fought over before from my understanding.

Of note is the lack of snow cover and the mud still on the ground there, closer to the south and sea of Azov.

The impact clusters don’t support your hypothesis.

I'm just quoting the reports for the most part and I wouldn't read too much into the images, it's casualties that count and I'd say the attacking Russians suffered more than the defending Ukrainians who can find deep shelter in basements, defensive bunkers and trenches. Two other factors, the chronic Russian ammo shortage and the destruction of their rear supply dumps has decreased their rate of fire and the Ukrainians have a vast superiority in drones, to spot the enemy and call down fire, while they also have superior anti drone capabilities.

It's not so much a hypothesis as adding up the factors based on credible reports, by all accounts the Russians are getting pounded and these photo's illustrated it. Of course defensive positions will come under fire, the Russians are good at hitting town and city sized targets.

I’m looking at the visual evidence. It tells me a different story. Granted; I’m working off a single source.

I'm sure Snowden will be on the first flight out!
Semi-ironic you should say that…I remember when the entire Snowden thing was in motion. What I saw (potentially) happening was him trying to find a safe harbor, but he was both valuable and radioactive…and (by design?) ran out of luck in a Russian airport.

Whatever happened from that point, he’s terminally fucked…I absolutely WOULD NOT put it past Putin to arrange his capture in advance - just, I expect he maybe didn’t arrange it with Snowden

Count every vehicle lost as a casualty: cannon-fodder is more easily replaced than a previously-working tank in Russia these days

I don’t think the Ukrainians fared much better. It’s a cliffhanger almost one year in.
We won't know until the war is over, but judging by the training, tactics and military culture and now aided by new weapons, I'd say the ratio will be high. The Russians have been constantly attacking and burned through their prison population in a couple of months! The Ukrainians are simply fighting better and smarter with a better organization and equipment and they are fighting a poorly trained and equipped army that is being incompetently led. The ground also does not appear to be frozen enough for tanks and they were confined to the roads, that were heavily targeted, unit's on the move in a column are extremely vulnerable to artillery attack. Only a desperate fool attacks under such conditions, the Ukrainian's do not appear to be either desperate or foolish, but the Russians do.

Russian convicts are no longer eager to join Wagner due to low survival rates of the soldiers and fear of sledgehammers

‘Like turkeys at a shooting range’: Mauling of Russian forces in Donetsk hotspot may signal problems to come

The scenes are chaotic: Russian tanks veering wildly before exploding or driving straight into minefields, men running in every direction, some on fire, the bodies of soldiers caught in tank tracks.

Russian military bloggers are calling it a fiasco, and worse.

These scenes have been recorded by Ukrainian military drones over the past two weeks around the town of Vuhledar in Donetsk, eastern Ukraine, where successive Russian assaults have failed.
