Why does the military need fully automatic weapons then? I read some where once, that during the civil war, 1 in 17 bullets hit the enemy, by vietnam it was closer to 1 in 20,000 rounds. I agree, a semi is just as good if not better. however when it comes to shear destructive fun, nothing blows a refrigerator all to hell like a sweet belt fed saw...

Whenever I see videos of Syria and it's people being slaughtered by tanks and artillery, I can't imagine US citizens faring much better.

I certainly do pray that if/when the US military considers US civilians "the enemy" that they treat you better than they treat civilians in their other theatres of operation...

Love it!!! My views, other than hunting and target practice I have never used a gun. Hope I never do. I am prepared to do so if need be though. God forbid. I think it is my right to protect me and my own, and it's everyone else's right as well. Take away gun laws and Darwinism will take care of the idiots. If the founders intended the 2nd amendment for the reasons of civilians defense from government as well as a "well-armed civilian militia" would it not be logical to have/allow the most up to date weapons?

I personally would be all for rolling back the time line and eliminating ALL guns. I whole heartedly think it would be a better world. but do you think the cops will ever give theres up, or the army for that matter? Unfourtionatly we as humans are constantly striving to find better and more efficient heartless ways of killing ourselves, one could almost say its the only thing we are actually good at, it is clearly the thing we are most successful at, thus it seems to be part of the human condition. To remove our ability to efficiency kill each other we would be working in direct opposition to over 6000 years worth of human evolution.
Right about now most of you are prolly thinking, well the military need there guns because ppl in other countries have guns! and most of you would agree that to take guns from OUR military would be absurd, and have little to no objection to our troops carrying guns. So why then would our ppl not need guns when other ppl have guns? Thus I purpose a solution more akin to Sweden. In order to maintain citizenship in the USA ALL residents over the age of 18 (not including special need individuals) should be required to attend a basic military training course and be issued a firearm to be used for self defense. every 5 to 10 years we should attend a short 6 (ish) week course to update our understanding of principles and weapons training. Then every US citizen will be a trained militia member and everyone will be comfortable with everyone else having THERE weapon and we will all be trained to use them properly.

EXACTLY!! Take away guns and plows become swords, rocks become weapons. To tell the truth I would much rather be shot dead than have to endure 10 minutes of being stoned to death.
But, you know, it's the guns that are bad.

I would rather see a ban on automobiles.We could all ride horses and carriages. Almost no dead animals on the road, a big fu to oil barons, no more pollution, remember the pricks in the motor vehicle dept- no more having to deal with them either, think of all those killed or seriously injured in car accidents and we could ride with our rifles on the side.
