What's the worst thing you've witnessed someone do, but did nothing about?(or did)

For me, i was skipping school one day walking on train tracks, i saw a homeless man getting the shit beaten out of him by 2 other men, i kinda froze up and just ran, i was around 11-12 at the time. kinda stuck with me for a few weeks.
My town was a garrison where soldiers came to train for six weeks before they joined their battalion, I was quite partial to the soldier boys in the town and even became engaged to one who sadly was shot and killed in Northern Ireland he was eighteen years old and it was his first patrol. Anyhow we used to go
drinking in the pubs that the soldiers frequented and the local town lads hated them, their was always trouble with them starting fights with the soldiers.one night we were in a pub with some soldiers and their was a well known thug in their all the locals were wary of him he had quite a reputation at using a knife. As the night progressed it was obvious this thug was going to start trouble my friend and I suggested we leave the pub which we did the thug followed, outside he grabbed one of the soldiers and they proceeded to fight the other soldier ran into the pub to get help my friend and I stood and watched in horror as the thug pulled a knife and stabbed the soldier who was now lay bleeding on the ground the thug ran off. An ambulance and both military and civi police arrived and asked everyone around and in the pub who had done it everyone said they didn't know for fear of reprisals from the thug even my friend refused to say. So I told them who had done it they took me to the police station to make a statement and whilst I was their they brought in the thug, I could hear him shouting to bring the witness to him(me) I was terrified I stood in court and testified against him and he went to jail he had a long line of offences already against him and that was the final straw, I didn't regret doing it and although I was terrified when he got out of jail nothing ever happened about it even though everyone said it would.
The crazy thing is this thug is an old man now and I went with my son one day to buy an air rifle and the dude works in the gun shop! How that happened I don't know but thankfully he didn't recognize me.

I would probably delete that post Guy incognito ...no statutes on that ride home ...good story tho....Carnegie...your buddy is a huge asshole.
I was kind of wondering about that myself. I've read stories like this regarding Facebook and it usually ends up with a conviction.

He was a piece of work. He married a horse faced shrew and moved to Louisiana and ended up working in waste disposal. Which I thought was quite appropriate. I do regret sleeping with him. Worst drunken decision of my life.

Fuckin hell guy. That's one sorry ass tale :(

Thats a pretty terrible thing to cover up, can't be an easy thing to live with.

Now by no means am I judging your actions. Who can truly say wtf might happen but I am wierdly curious & hope you dont mind me asking a few questions. All geniune, no malice.

So did you ever tell anyone else, or is this the first time?

Do you think your friend who fixed the damage would have stayed quiet had he known?

Did you consider handing yourself in after you found out the guy died?

Do you think about it a lot? Do you feel different now?

Has it changed you in any other way, positive or negative. Other than maybe not boozing while driving anymore?

To be honest I would not turn myself in...I read a story a couple years ago in the Chicago suntimes ...teal pretty girl maybe 18 was walking home at night...drunk driver hit n run....no leads ...the case was cold for five or six years...in the meantime. The driver had his life fall apart ...he went from an a student at Marquette. To flunking out...getting into trouble n could not live with himself ...he showed up at girls house six or seven years later n confessed at the front door to her twin sister....she called police n I believe he got ten years.

Yup, can see why he did it though. Shit must hang heavy.

I've never seen anything bad i suppose.

I was drinking with a guy i know from work an old vet.

He was in the Gulf War and the second occupation of Iraq.

Told me about how a pregnant lady tried to suicide bomb his check point but the bomb didn't go off and the pinned her on the ground.

She went into birth and the child was born right there. His commanding officer ordered him to kill the baby.

He threw it at a wall then stomped on it.

I have no doubts about his story. He has PTSD like a bitch he tokes all day to keep cool.

My brother has a lot of horror stories from Afghanistan and Iraq, one involving an old time windmill, which had dead babies, children and body parts attached to each wing or whatever you would call it. He's also seen a group of soldiers following orders in a vehicle to continue on through deep water, it ended up not being to get through and all of them drowned as no one could safely get to them in time. Shit ain't pretty over seas..that is for sure..

I didn't see it but due to a lot of combined conditions I knew I was going to pass out, heat stroke, dehydrated and was hit in the stomach and when I bent over all the blood rushed to my head...was just a major fluke, terrible combination. Couldn't do a damn thing about it, I stood back up straight but it was too late. Passed out, grating the left side of my face down a rusty chainlink fence completely mangling myself and proceeded to have a 'grandmother seizure'. Ever since the left side of my body is very minutely, almost un noticeably retarded to the right side. Say, if I were to tap a table with both pointer fingers at a steady pace, the left finger would fall behind after so many taps

don't think this really counts, but i went hiking last summer with my best friend and we were dosing shrooms, we go to a mount/park nature park a few miles from me. sun was going down so we were heading back home about 4-5 hours into our hiking trip, still tripping balls, and desided to veer off trail and just go down the mountain(i wanted to stay on trail rather than b-line it), i saw my friend ahead loosen a boulder about 100lb's and it was tumbling after him and then i lost LOS and hear him scream, the boulder ended up rolling over his leg/ankle region fucking it up pretty bad, the thing was really picking up speed. it was one of the most horrifying moments of my life, because just a few seconds earlier we were laughing and enjoying the effects of the mushies we ate. i had to carry him down the mountain and get him to the hospital all while my heart rate was up and tripping balls.
