What's For Dinner Tonight?

I like pork belly but if I'm fancy dining I generally go for something that isn't a traditionally cheap cut of any meat. I love going to the butcher and getting a carrier bag full of lap of lamb, mint up some gravy and slow cook it in the own for a couple of hours. pour half the gravy out and roast a further hour so you get crispy on one half and succulent soft falling apart meat underneath. homer dribbling here....

I'm on a low carb diet presently so i should have the fish but eff that in the A hole. I'll hit the gym sat to make up for it haha.

Rabbit food is what it is. I've a chicken and bacon pasta salad in the fridge and a bag of bbq coated peanuts on standby. Salad is not a meal, it is a side dish. Hmph. Gotta keep the folk happy though.

Put together a simple anti-pasti board with bruschetta for the folks tonight. Roasted pepper, fried courgette, mozarella, chorizo, salami milano, parma ham, vine tomatoes, cherry tomatoes, olives, parmesan, and olives :) Topping for the bruschetta was olive oil, vine tomatoes, fresh basil and parsley, anchovies, garlic, onion, lemon zest and juice, and a pinch of salt and pepper. Scrummdiddlyumptuous.

Cheers :-)

Nah, they love it, one of their fave meals. I've just never been one for salad. Gotta change it up between what I like and what they like, especially as other than odds and sods like a splash of shouxing wine or a pinch of saffron, they're the ones paying for everything :-) tempted to look for a good authentic pulled pork recipe for this sunday (as authentic as one can get without a smoker etc)

I think they might be a bit peeved to be called guests in their own house. As geeked out as it sounds, I'm happy to do it for no other reason than I love chopping and slicing. Gives me a valid reason to use my knives he he.

That soup looking thing with the tofu and enoki mushrooms looks sublime. I'd love to try cooking something like that. What is the soup base made from? Looks like it should have a lovely rich flavour.

That soup is the easiest thing in the world, it takes 5 minuets, just chop and steam the veggies lightly, except the mushrooms. Once steamed, use the water in the lower part of the steamer and add Miso soup stalk, (it can be found in containers and it is a paste, it's completely natural), a squirt or two of little Hot chili sauce, splash of soy and a blob of Hoisin if you desire. Just pour the hot soup bace on the steamed veggies with the mushrooms on top and mmm...so good. I fry the tofu in a different pan obviously. Most people add rice noodles but I just wanted a veggie soup.

Edit: BTW, I use carrots, pea pods, bok choy, celery, green onion, broccoli and different mushrooms. The tofu I fry in peanut oil.
