Dont worry bro, americans are addicted to ranch dressing. Its just mayo and buttermilk with some spices. Almost equally as high in calories ;)

I discovered that i used all the charcoal last weekend so i had to cook a steak in a pan today. It wasnt horrible but it could have been better thats for damn sure. Pan fried strip loin with strawberry and jalapeno salad. Yes TTT....more jalapenos, they went really well with the strawberries. Im going to have to eat them together more often, the salad was kinda the main event tonight. Do you across the oceaners call strip loin New york steak or is it just us americaners?

We call it neither. It's called a sirloin.

That salad looks so wrong, yet so intriguing. Might have to try something like that sometime. Anything with mushroom in it works for me, although i do like em drowned in butter in a hot griddle :D

I had a baked potato with beans an cheese last night. Exciting times. So gonna balance it out and have a rack of ribs tonight, maybe with a side of macaroni cheese :)

From the front shoulder of the cow on top of the rib cage moving twards the hind quarter we call it, rib eye steak, ny steak, sirloin. Tenderloin runs from the end of the rib eyes to the start of the sirloin under the rib cage. At least we share the love of macaroni and cheese across the globe :):):)

Ours is like this, middle ribs being rib-eyes, but better just to cook em on the bone nice and slow. I notice how in the US, there is a distinction between T-bone and porterhouse, over hear, it's all just t-bone so far as i've experienced as a butcher and buyer.

Old pic from the butchers and fishmongers i used to manage.

Lower left, who thing would just be called sirloin. any cut off that with the fillet and bone attached, T-bone. I personally prefer my sirloin from right at the arse end. start to get all the flavour of a rump steak without losing the tenderness.

Wow, what a difference. The whole top side is different. Porterhouse is just with a larger piece of tendrloin on it. The more tenderloin, the more valued the steak right. Ive done lots of butchering wild game and was a fish monger for a couple years too. I love cutting 40 lb halibut, and 1500 lb moose ;)

believe it or not this picture just made me sooo hungry :)

jalapenos with strawberries n?!?!?!? wtf man lol.
seriously dont knock it till you try it, while i was eating it i was thinking this could make me a millionare if i could only make a salad dressing out of these ingredients. They go so good together. Another thing id love to invest in is habenero cheese. Pepper jack flies off the shelves in the US (monteray jack cheese with ground up bits of jalepenos in it) so why not kick it up a notch :):):)

There is an over abundance of Moose in Newfoundland (my childhood home). It's common practice back there to can it but I've not seen it done out west. It's great for a quick convenient meal. You can it just like you would Salmon. The meet become very tender in the canning process and is just reheated straight from the jar or some people even like it cold. Have you ever tired or heard of this?

Newfies make some killer canned rabbit too, ive tried the moose in a can but i like the rabbit better. I had to eat them both cold as per instructions from the guy i got samples from. He told me that his wife made them and that the only thing she did better than cook was suck the whites right out of his eyes. Jake white was his name. :):):)

Yes, they are better cold I agree. We canned everything there, even mussels in vinegar. I've kept up the tradition but do mostly jams. As for sucking the whites from someone's eyes, we have a saying on "The Rock" ..."If you can't get enough, get a Newf"
193240_10151013612457204_1292221649_o.jpg Plum Jam, Blackberry Jelly and Blackberry apple pie all picked from near by. The veggies are from my neighbour who is very kind too me.
