HID lighting will always get you better results over floro's, IMO... Vegging under an HPS is no big deal... your node spacing might be a little larger than if you used an MH bulb, but you won't have any issues vegging under HPS

I can tell you the problem with yer order right now... It went to the Chicago ISC! They are horrible there, so damn slow. Usually my $hit from attitude comes thru NY, once it went haywire and went through Chicago. Only took an extra 2 weeks... I posted in a thread talking about this very same thing

I'd do the whole grow with HPS... IMO you will get better results with your HPS over CFLs anyday... You can put seedlings/small plants under a 600HPS, just make sure you raise the light up so as to not burn the babies. Again, IMO you should always "pot up"... Start with small, then medium, then...
