Proposal: The intentional and isolated application of male pollen to ward off hermaphrodites.

Thanks. I'll check it out. I'm going to be researching genetics tonight. Again. But this time I'm going to be looking for validated herm resistant genetics. And as far as "That's free seeds for you" I don't accept that. They need to be trashed, not given away to unsuspecting paying customers.

Proposal: The intentional and isolated application of male pollen to ward off hermaphrodites.

Well, just an update. I pulled 10 more hermies out. Every other one was a herm. Most of them had not opened their scs yet. I didn't finish looking though, the damage is done...Thanks for all your help guys. I know the thread steered off in a different direction. But, that's OK.

Proposal: The intentional and isolated application of male pollen to ward off hermaphrodites.

Okay. So let me be clear about how I got these genetics. Because it is a little confusing, but I'll try to be clear. Ordered seeds. 5 feminized White Gold and to my surprise, a pack of 3 regular seeds came for free (church of the deadhead regular). I set those aside for later. I attempted to...

Full blown balls sacs, some of which had pollen spilling out of them. Looked like four "arms" opened with powdery substance there.

Proposal: The intentional and isolated application of male pollen to ward off hermaphrodites.

I got these seeds from a plant that went herm in my last grow. i though it it was environmental factors. Which is why I ran the risk of growing these seeds out, cause I knew they were fem. i expected a few herms, but not this many. I sat in the grow tent though during that grow for 10 minutes...

Proposal: The intentional and isolated application of male pollen to ward off hermaphrodites.

Thanks for the advice. I'll do this tomorrow. It will take a while. Won't that male organs grow back? How often will I need to do this? Most of the buds are still nice and white and fat. I started looking cause I noticed some browning pistils which made me suspicious. But the lights were going...

Proposal: The intentional and isolated application of male pollen to ward off hermaphrodites.

@SSGrower Well, I have some bad news. I went and checked again after I replied previously. The first 3 plants were herms. i found a 4th and a 5th after a couple plants. At that point, I just stopped looking. AT that point it's a herm out of every 5 plants. I don't want that number to go any...

    Experiment: 5x5, 1000W HID, FFOF, Dyna-Gro, 40 1-gallon fabric pots

Oh, and I'll be pulling out my hortilux, lol, and putting the generic one back in.

    Experiment: 5x5, 1000W HID, FFOF, Dyna-Gro, 40 1-gallon fabric pots

Well, bad news. I was checking for hermies tonight, the first 3 I checked I had to rip. Then a 4th, and a 5th...so I'm not going to even bother checking the rest. I was afraid this was happen. I knew it was a possibility. But I was hoping it was environmental stress to cause their mom to herm...

Thanks for the references, I will check those out. Much appreciated. In your experience, what % (roughly) of your plants go herm on you? I have 37 in a 5x5. I can't check them all anymore daily. I have to take them out of the grow space and some don't get intense light for over an hour or so...

HPS vs LED w/ 3 different strains.

Wow man, electricity must be expensive where you are per KWH. Here, its somewhere between 9 and 9.6cents/KWH or 6 to 6.9/KWH. I can't remember cause it's just so cheap I don't even pay attention to it. I did take 30/month off my bill by only turning water heater on for an hour a day. But I...

Micro-watering, micro-feeding, anyone know anything about this?

Hey, 1K Eyehortilux. I'm not sure why people seem to think the leaves are drooping cause of wind, , or light, or whatever. The plants are not drooping. Lol. I don't let them droop. I've been letting their leaves drop slightly, then I know they're ready for water. I do not have an issue with...

Micro-watering, micro-feeding, anyone know anything about this?

Yeah, well, this whole idea came out of necessity. It's challenging....I tried watering them all an equal amount. But some were light and some were still heavy when I went in to water again. Some ALMOST needed watering, others were a couple days out. I can't setup an auto feed system. Too late...

This is about tricking the plant into not over-stressing when end of life comes. I'm not taking into consideration additional stress factors.

Proposal: The intentional and isolated application of male pollen to ward off hermaphrodites.

I've heard some viewpoints from very experienced growers that females sometimes will go herm if they don't get any pollen in an attempt to spread their genes, they get desperate, and go herm. Or so the theory goes...If you just left a popcorn bud and pollinated that, wouldn't that bud just have...

Proposal: The intentional and isolated application of male pollen to ward off hermaphrodites.

Hi, So, the idea is based off cannabis producing bananas, and going herm. From what I understand, a large part of this is because it's a last -ditch effort for the plant to spread its genes. If I were to pollinate a single bud, manually, I feel like that particular bud would have seeds, but the...

Micro-watering, micro-feeding, anyone know anything about this?

This is a uote from this: http://www.greenhousemag.com/article/gmpro-0310-water-plants-automating-irrigation/ "A substrate moisture content of 20 percent was enough to grow quality plants. For a three week period, these plants received about 16 ounces of water per plant. This is a little more...
