    No flush, no problem?

Agreed, Prawn is an old pro! Maybe he'll tell us that the dry trim advantage is another old growers' tale? Who knows... If the internet is to be believed, dry trimming will almost certainly result in more aromatic and flavorful buds, but... That wasn't my experience.

    No flush, no problem?

I like wet trimming for convenience, but now that I've moved the tents out of the basement, I'm in a lower humidity drying environment, so I figure leaving all the leaves on while it dries is probably good for the buds? But that's just based on popular opinion, to be honest! Dry trimmed my last...

    DIY with Quantum Boards

Why do you say not to wire in parallel on a CV driver? Many people do!

    12 COB, what amperage?

The 320 just gives you more headroom in case you ever want more power, but the 240s will be just fine. Yes, you can use the Ideal holder for both the CLU048 and the CXM22.

    12 COB, what amperage?

For roughly 70-75 watts per COB, I'd say somewhere around 1.4-1.5 amps. Are you planning to wire in series or in parallel? Personally, I'd go parallel, as it gives you more options. I'd probably do one HLG-320H-48AB (or 240H-48AB if money is tight) for every four COBs.

    12 COB, what amperage?

If you properly implement the CXM22s, the CXB3590s are not going to be the more efficient product. Efficiency is a big picture, and though the 3590s can beat the 22s at certain current levels, at others, the 3590s lose. When you then factor in the far better cost of the Luminus COBs, it's an...

    12 COB, what amperage?

What do you mean by better? It depends entirely on what you need. Cree is still a top player in LED, and probably always will be, but for DIY COB grow lighting, they just aren't competitive. Cree, Luminus, Bridgelux, and Citizen (the Big Four in COBs) are all highly regarded manufacturers that...

    12 COB, what amperage?

For an 8x4 I would probably do 16 CXM22s at 75 watts per COB. Should be a reasonably good balance of price-to-performance if you're on a budget. The famous CXB3590 is old news, man. I'm not saying it isn't still a great COB with potential for great efficiency, but it is way overpriced...

    12 COB, what amperage?

CXB3590s are no longer the top choice in COBs. You could do better with (cheaper) Luminus CXM22s.

Timber Redwood VS efficiency % decrease in a year??

Fuck. Wrote a long reply and it disappeared on me. Fuck. Alright, I'll try to condense. Grow rooms doesn't equal commercial, and bare diodes are daily proving themselves suitable. Besides, some commercial grows have small plants, dude. You have high expectations for longevity. Good on you for...

Timber Redwood VS efficiency % decrease in a year??

So you state that it will INCREASE temps, but somehow not more than is already there anyway??? You lost me on that one, man. The word "increase" has a very clear definition. Bare diodes have been suitable for many grow rooms, for quite a long time. I wouldn't buy an iPhone in the first place...

Where to buy: Metal wires/cables with clips on one end for hanging lights?

I have a strong dislike for those hangers, myself. Single-anchor point hangers cause your fixture to unpredictably rotate, and though you can use them with a two-anchor configuration, I don't like how long the damn things are... But to each their own! I just use chain, carabiners, and ratchet...

Timber Redwood VS efficiency % decrease in a year??

You think that wouldn't increase temps? Easy enough to find out - we just need someone with plexi over their 288s to stick a thermometer between the board and the cover.

    Electric sky 300 stress

How fresh is the soil? Perhaps the amendments haven't broken down enough yet? As for supplementing - personally, I'd use Epsom salt for the mag, instead of a cal-mag blend.

Timber Redwood VS efficiency % decrease in a year??

I'm sure the primary culprit in degradation is heat. Migro's test is useful to a point, but he certainly wasn't attempting any additional thermal management above and beyond the stock configurations of those fixtures (and in the case of the QB288, he made it worse by using the plexi cover)...

Timber Redwood VS efficiency % decrease in a year??

That needs to be qualified. Recent testing at "full power" (which can mean different things for different lights), 24/7, without active cooling, shows a 5% decrease per year. It's not at all fair to plaster that result over any given fixture, because the conditions under which it's operated can...

    No flush, no problem?

It only makes sense. I'm no veteran grower, so I won't make any experience-based claims, but when you learn the underlying science, the whole concept of flushing falls apart. One of those grow myths that perpetuated during the outlaw days (I know some of you are still outlaw growers - kudos to...

    COBs, Strips & Boards.......oh my!

The word around here is that Stephen from HLG says you shouldn't run them over 50 watts without a heatsink. But as you've said in a subsequent post, you can use sheet aluminium. Or, as Airwalker pointed out, four sinks from HLG will cost you $120 (not sure if he factored in the 10% forum discount).
