If you're after as much info as possible, you should read through the "DIY with Quantum Boards" thread. Yes, it's hundreds of pages long, but there's a lot of good data to be gleaned.

You don't need heatsinks on the QB120. Just mount to some angle and you're good to go.

How's the grow coming along?

At that price, as long as it's in good condition, I wouldn't pass it up. A few guys here have flowered under 4000k, and I haven't heard any complaints.

I suppose it's a question of whether or not the lifespan of the LEDs would make the price worth it, compared to a fluoro fixture that requires bulb replacements.

While strips are certainly the best option on a price-to-performance basis (though I hear the prices are going up), for simplicity and ease of construction, I don't know if you can beat QB120s or QB132s.

I would have been surprised if there wasn't something proprietary in that fixture. With the name Gavita on it, you expect some kind of differentiator.
