Pond water good for teas? If so, what type?

We eat alot of garlic, and I mean alot of garlic. I eat a clove or two of raw garlic every day. And we give our family garlic. We then dry the leftover garlic in the oven and grind it up to make our own garlic salt and powder. Anyways, I just watered my garlic with an ewc molasses tea last week...

Pond water good for teas? If so, what type?

The pond water is what was left over from last year. Yes, I would think the algae would be comprised of stuff like rotted leaf matter, decomposed bugs, the occasional bird crap and other beneficial organics. Think I should make some up and water my garlic with it at least. Got 312 up so far!!

Pond water good for teas? If so, what type?

So me and the smarter half are outside in the sunshine smoking a beautiful purple sativa, and then she decides she's gonna clean out her pondless waterfall. Must say quite green from all the algae. So we hook up the garden hose and turn the pump on and watering the back grass. Then I think, why...

    How do you germinate?

I've had great success by putting them on some folded up paper towel that sits on a yogurt container lid, then slip that into a clear plastic bag and fold up the bottom and put it on a window sill. Usually 2 days later they have cracked, then a couple days after that I plant them.

Any ideas on a good soil mixture for tomatos?

Thanks Grease. Guess I should have figured that one out. I had some soil left over from last years grow. Wasn't the living soil that I made this year, but it had quite a few amendments in it. Had 4 tomato plants in 4 different sized buckets ranging from 1 gallon up to 5 gallons. Each one did...

Any ideas on a good soil mixture for tomatos?

Thanks Stash. Well I think I will remix each batch up to 1 cu/ft, which is 7.5 gallons of soil. Then I'm gonna add some ph buffering to the mixes. 1/2 cup each of oyster shell flour, crab shell meal and gypsum. That should take care of the ph issues.

Any ideas on a good soil mixture for tomatos?

Think I'm gonna try me a few things. Took a couple of 2 1/2 gallon buckets to day and filled them this way. My first bucket got 1 gallon of ewc and 1 gallon pro mix peat moss and then 1/2 gallon of composted horse manure. Moistened all that up with some rain water then topped it off with 25 big...

I have some squash that's been laying around for a while and some has gotten quite rotten. At what point is it to rotten to add to my worm bins? Check out the pic and let me know if this stuff is still okay to add to the bins.

    What's wrong with this seedling!

Hey dgthumb, you say you flush your soil with a root stimulation solution before you plant. What type of solution is it, and when you say you plant, do you plant the seed into the soil, or did you germinate the seed first then plant? I have a few autos this grow and I want to give the girls...

Wood fines in compost or living soil?

Thanks Mustang. These are fines which are small pieces of wood that are left over after the chipping process of the larger logs. There are no pine needles in this stuff, just straight fines. Some pieces are a bit bigger but I can pick those out if I had to.

Wood fines in compost or living soil?

Hey all, I can get a bunch of wood fines as seen in the pic. They consist of all sort of wood such as pine, hemlock, fir and cedar fines. Would it be more beneficial if I put it in my compost, or added it to my living soil?

Hey Rasta Roy, get your friends to start saving you their leftover fruit and veggie scraps. Then chop them up a bit and freeze them. Take them out a day before feeding. That gives the fruit and veggies time to thaw out. Worms don't eat the food, they digest the slime from the rotting food. And...

@greasemonkeymann , sounds like something I would like to try. Do you know what ratio the old school farmer used the rabbit manure and kelp meal?

    What ratio do I need?

Hey Grease. Mixing up a few more batches of my living soil today and went to find some rotted tree chunks. Went out to my big fire pit and checked out a few large pieces of birch. This one was quite r otted, and had a worm inside of it. Great amendment for the soil for sure!!

    Help sexing....

You will have to wait for the hairs to hopefully show up. Or the balls I guess. You can also try by changing the lighting to force the plant to flower.
