I get that, but the larger surface area also means more variation across the whole, which leads to air gaps which leads to hot spots on the board... I would think that could have an impact on performance.

Simple cheap humidity and temp control units can be had on ebay for around 15 a piece. hook them up to you fans etc to have it control them for you throughout the day. watering could be a bit trickier but probably doable.

Just keep in mind all going vertical does is use space more efficiently, not the light. Thats why I feel directional lighting like this isnt exactly ideal for vertical growing. That being said, if money is no object to you, a badass setup could be built.
