Yeah that's true, high spectrum for veg... IMO it couldn't hurt to have a broad spectrum of light going, for example I have : 3 - 42W, 6500K. 3 - 23W, 2500K. and 2 - 13W, 5000K. and it seems to be doing well. I have had a fair amount of success using only 6500K for vegging in the past as well.

Nah man they won't get confused at all. The more light the better when it comes to CFL's. My setup is similar to yours and I have light coming from all directions. GL Puffin

As long as the plant gets 4 or 5 hours of direct sunlight you will do ok. Just because it's not the light is not directly from the sun doesn't mean the plant thinks it's dark out.

If you're just going to have 2 plants I don't think heat is going to be a huge factor for you, its a pretty big space for 2 plants.. I have 2 now under 3 42W 6500K and 4 23W 2500K in a little tent I made. 2x3x5 ...

That's an awesome little space you got there, I wish I had access to a closet as practical as that. They're right about the temps though, even with CFL's depending on how many you have I'm sure you're bound to generate some heat. How many plants are you planing to grow in there?

If I were in your shoes I would go and buy the following. 2 - 42W 6500k CFL's, a light socket y splitter and a socket adapter and an extension cord. And hang that above your plant. If you have any money left grab a timer. at least you have something that will keep your plant alive for the time...

Here's the simple version. Get yourself some potting soil. Go to the hardware store and grab a bunch of CFL's a power bar and some of those Y light socket splitters and plug adapters. then go to your local hydroponics shop and grab a 3 part nute system. Boom your good to go, prolly have enough...

For the price of buying a new bulb I don't see how it's worth the risk to use something defective. Also I saw a youtube vid where a guy plugged in a CFL that had a crack in the glass and it burst into flames.

Be careful if you go in there!! The air inside could be stale and you could succumb to oxygen deprivation. Get some airflow going before you go in!

Yeah I would wait until the second node starts to grow and then do a 1/4 strength feed bumping it up 1/4 strength weekly. Unless you see signs of burn then cut back.. Less is more at this stage in the game...
