yeah dont spray the soil, just the top and bottom sides of the foliage. Also go by your nute dosing directions. If it doesnt have a dosage for foliage feeding what I do is I will mix a gallon at half strength then fill my spray bottle with that, one full spray bottle will last a good bit.

You can, I actually have a little mist bottle with a mild mix of Fox farm hydro grow nutes. I will mist the foliage top and bottom every day, then only water when the soil has pretty much completely dried out. Remember its actually easier to over water than it is to under water.
