Yeah sounds good, it will probably stay together better where the roots havent grown yet. Maybe get a friend and another shovel and lift it out from both ends with the shovels after you get it cut out.

oh I see, yeah 10 days isnt too long but you would be surprised how much those roots have grown, just dig pretty far out and dig nice and deep, you will probably cut some of the roots but it should recover if you dont damage the main taproot. Thats cool you are gifting them to a friend.

Yes it sucks, its worth it in the end usually. Poison Ivy, carrying in soil, hauling water, jagger bushes, snakes, transplanting plants, etc, etc.. It all sucks. But if your plants make it to the end that backpack full of bud is great to bring home.

The small sprout is just a weed like Gamble said, I get those exact same little weeds. The brown spot is bug damage I think.
