If your pH is too alkaline you should try brewing up a fungal dominant tea. That would help bring it back down. Mine are about the size of yours, in the same cups, and I just started transplanting; 2 of 4 so far and both of those were pretty much root bound.

If it is Mg, then Epsom Salt is very cheap and it's water-soluble, so you could probably see the effect fairly quickly. You might want to try it with just one of them. How many bulbs are in your fixture?

he has a programmable logic controller (plc) wired up to control the room. Think super duper environmental controller. The controller takes temp, humidity, water level, light, etc. as inputs, makes decisions according to the logic he programs, and then turns on/off his a/c, dehumidifier, etc...

Did you consider adding Mycos already? If you were to stick with that recipe you could probably use ACTs fairly frequently.
