1st attempt at QWISO

Hell yeah crawl that looks like some killa! Mine was a little more redish gold and slightly darker but still see through and snapped real easy. Probably just cause the trim i used was a few months old.

My favorite thing to do is just smash it into little pieces and roll em into balls and dunk on my rig. Its nice not having to worry about hash sticking for once!

As for me i use a fuunnel made from a 2 liter and pour my iso through over the trim/buds. I take the cap off and poke a few holes through it then put a 55 micron screen in there. looks like a sink screen or a regular screen for a bowl but i just cut em from a bigger sheet that i have.

its nice because i can run it through and the second it starts geting more yellow green than straight yellow i stop my rinse. i usually get 2-3 rinses then stop and put fresh cold iso through.

I like it because i can seal the 2 liter to my face and blow all the excess iso out through the bottom so very little gets trapped in the material.

Then in a maason jar with a really tight lid for a few hours or over night then i dewax through a coffee filter. Ive stopped dewaxing in my freezer and started getting a cooler and filling it with dry ice since i hear people blowing

So my 1st wash I could handle and break pieces off. I smoked a very little bit and couldn't believe how smooth it is. Is it supposed to smoke very smooth? The potency was unreal, I haven't smoked oil in a while. The 2nd wash is sticky, like taffy. I slightly reheated it, spread it out thin, and put a fan on it. Hopefully it will get brittle. The more of your posts I read the more I'm learning, keep them coming. Thanks.

sounds like you had a good outcome to me.

usually my 1st wash is more brittle then second. i would guess due to more fats and such starting to be pulled out in the later washes, yet they still come out looking and smoking great. I like where its not breaking and shooting pieces all over, but just soft enough to break a piece off.

Is it OK to smoke the soft, taffy stuff? I burned some and it didn't flame up or pop, it just bubbled and melted. I can't smell any iso. Is it safe? I smoked the first wash and it was fine.

Yeah just has more non desirables in it but mostly just other fats or waxes from the plant but also enough good stuff to make it worth it. Think of it as the 120 or 160 bag of ice wax.

Id smoke it. If not use it in edibles.

deffinitely usable.

Seems like diff evap methods will give you the different consistencies. My last run was using hot griddle. which i prefer now. faster evap and easily controlled with a temp gun.

That's what Ive been seeing mostly, it's like scraping goo with powder mixed in. After kneading and pressing it flat, it tends to stay slightly taffy but will "snap" if you pull on it.

My latest run, (30sec shake on some pre-trim), turned to yellow powder when scraping, was like trying to press a bill back together after chopping it up with a razor, lol, impossible, till I put the slick pad in the crock pot and melted it, I ended up with the hardest amber I've had yet, harder than a lot of the BHO shatter I purchase.

So sometimes it stays sticky and taffy-like?
yeah this last one stayed , what i would call taffy. ( at room temp its fairly stiff but with finger warmth for like 10 ssec its very "taffy" like and flimsy and easy to grab piece and pull off with fingers )

My others that i did hotwater baths on, ended out more like shatter.

Ive gotten the powerdyish stuff too. seems youll get that with small runs and letting it sit level to fully evap. I tend to watch mine and when they are getting low, ill tilt the oil to one end using nickels or something under one side. start with 1 and as more evaps i tilt a little more. then every few mins ill take it off and let some run to the center, kind of making a thin but good size film. Instead of leaving it all flat and drying out. then once i get no runny liquid, ill scrape to middle and let it purge for while.

my color is usually like what Algores 4th picture is with good lighting.

^^^ Interesting with the tilt stuff. The powder was so annoying to deal with cuz there was zero sickyness when scraping, it was going everywhere, lol.

Yeah, my evape dish was a little convex so I had the iso mixture pool up on the edges. I'm thinking that had a lot to do with it staying sticky. My first wash dish is flatter and it evaped a lot better. Ill be looking for a good dish and keeping it leveled better next time. Keep picking up more little tweaks to my tek.

yeah the first time i did qwiso i got the powder and was so upset. once i formed it with a little wax and kneeding it was usable and i was satisfied, until it turned to shatter. lol

Heres a pic of how it ends up when i tilt near the end.

just enough to see the color of the wax and makes it easier to scrape since its warm and not as solid.

My second wash taffy stuff, after being wrapped in parchment paper then stored in a airtight container for about 4 days, is starting to turn waxy. What's up with this? When I stored it away I could barely handle it because it was so sticky. Now it will break apart but it doesn't snap, it's softer. Will this continue to change texture? What will the end product be? I'm very new to making QWISO and this is strange to me.

Hey dude, my guess is moisture. Should try to store it in a cool dry place. Or if you live here, just about anywhere will do, hehe.

My stuff actually seems to "compress"(it gets flatter and harder) when I leave it in a container in my coffee table.
