I haven't put pictures up yet, but I have another room with florescent lights for veg while I'm flowering in my tent. In that room I have 4 "Fruity Chronic Juice's", kinda lame name, but supposedly dank stuff. I will post a pic, but those are not really in my spotlight right now. HOWEVER, i have fungus gnats in there big time, way annoying!! Anyone have any good tips on dealin with those little F'ers
I think that link I gave you about plant problems might have that in there. Name may sound lame but might surprise you...

Ok I can tell you this about the FLUSHING....I am becoming quite the expert at it. Thats because I completely screwed my plants up and flushed numerous times. You will need to do 3 times the amount your container is in. Example 1 gallon container will require 3 gallons of water. you have to pH two gallons of the three gallons to 5.8pH. Yes acidy, that will put your plant into "HYPERDRIVE" On your last gallon mix in your Nutes pH around 6.5pH, *Go back to what ever your last feeding was cut it down to 25% or try again with 50%*. Maybe you might have some build up inside your soil. Your plants will droop, no big deal just do it about one hour into the lights being on and maintain your temp around 76-78F. They will be Perky and it gives you a clean slate and whatever Nutes you want to start over with.

Please ILL let me know if that is correct? I hope so, well thats what I been doing. Hope it helped. I am sure Ill will confirm or correct me,LOL If you take a look at my last pics in my journal of Day 30 you will see I just did that to Pat and Baby Lou. Thats them drooping and then Tomorrow they should be perky again.

Thats why I love to share!! You can only teach what you most need to learn.....

Only thing you missed is the 5.8 water puts them to sleep...the 6.5 ph feed water and lights and warmth wake them up....the flood of rain makes them hyperdrive to wick away the rain just like when it rains in nature...all the plants grow like crazy after a hard rain once the sun comes out....observe plants after it rains next spring...you will be amazed...but your instructions of what to do are dead on....awesome! I have been kinda holding your hand BKB so now with the tools you are learning try to figure things out...you can do it my friend....but I am always here ..or someone else who knows ...and never panic or freak out...it'll make you kill 'em..lol

The tds or if you would prefer an ec meter will indicate the strength or actually the salinity of your mix....you can find what strength they can take and then just mix your nutes within that ppm or ec reading and change your mix to obtain the best ratios but remain at the salinity level or strength the plants like

You really have no idea what the strength is of your solution without one....As I can assure you throughout the grow you will use less than recommended as well as more than recommended..the tds or ec meter combined with reading the plants will allow you to get feeds correct faster and more accurately

Hope it helps.....

ps_ fungus gnats...yuck...let your soil dry out well...put up yellow pest strips...sprinkle a fine layer of Diatomaceous Earth on the top of the soil after you water them...but dont let it get wet...it wont work wet...Buy some Fox Farms Soil next grow...never had a bug from them:bigjoint:

or a local nursery...Carl Pool is the brand I use...11 dollars for 20 lbs...enough for years...lol..also a great wetting agent amendment for soil

Thanks Ill for the kind words but thats a direct example of you teaching me. I am happy that I got something down and I can help others now with flushing. Chalk one up for the nOOb. Thanks for staying and helping my man Eyez.

Ok so I flushed this morning before work.....I have never heard about flushing with 5.8 then 6.5 water before, could you elaborate on what that does?

I DID follow the instructions with blind faith, it was only approx since I'm using a damn color chart, lol. However, I am trying to follow the plain water every 3rd watering, so my 2nd flush at 6.5 was just ph'd water with no nutrients. I'm assuming that was an ok move tho. WHat is this about "makin it rain"?

https://www.rollitup.org/newbie-central/316301-calling-all-noob-growers.html

Read that^^

Now say you have a 1 gallon growing container... 2 gallons ph'ed 5.8 then the last gallon add nutes ph to 6.5 and run it through

If 3 gallon grow container 8 gallons plain water ph 5.8.... last gallon add nutes ph 6.5

If 5 gallon container 14 gallons water ph 5.8 .... last gallon add nutes ph 6.5

Right now mix a gallon of a lil on the light side nutes for each plant you flushed this am ph 6.5 and run a gallon of 6.5 feed water through each

When the pots are light enough to know they are dry n thirsty do the same exact thing again but adjust the nutes in the last gallon only to what you feel they need

Do this everytime the pots are light and they need water and you will be "making it rain"

Rainwater on average is 5.8ph....plants thrive at 6.5 ph...understanding more now?

totally makes sense!! Thanks for elaborating. So are you saying that should be basically doing a full flush, followed by nutrients every time I water, AND never to water with just plain ph'd water? I will need to wait another day before watering. One of my stinky plants looks a little droopy and shows signs of overwater. That plant always looked a little bit on the droopy side tho, so maybe its just one of its characteristics.

the flush is the plain water...the last gallon is the feed...you have to give nutes everytime as you are washing them out....really helps to prevent lockouts and buildups as well as big growth

Just make sure you let them dry out alittle and are light in weight before doing it again. I didnt wait long enough and did some serious damage to Mamadude. Overwatered her real bad plus I didnt pH the water to 5.8pH. Getting that pH dialed in is where the magic of HYPERDRIVE happens. Plus what I like is that your starting a clean slate with your soil and the plant is always getting Nutes. Not like every other waterings. Thats what I love about making it rain. If that made any sense.

Ill thanks for the motivational and kind words on my journal! You are a true friend that understands what I am going through! Thanks Ill.

You're welcome my friend...wish I could do more but yes I really do care and can relate...especially that I also have a terminal illness....well that's what the docs say...8 years ago I was told I had 2 years left tops...Here I am 8 years later and this is what I have for doctors:finger: they just want to poison you with their chemicals that almost killed me 'til I told them to shove it....Been to a doctor 1 time in the past 4 years and it was in February to get my mmj card:bigjoint: And won't go to them again unless I have to to renew my card

Just love her like you do....will help you both ..trust me

Good advice of the sand CO, I will do that today. I did some research, it doesn't hold moisture, and the gnats eggs can't survive when they are layed in too dry of an environment. That seems like the least invasive control, nematodes were also recommended but I'm gonna start with just the sand and maybe some flytape.
I was looking at home depot and saw some fine White Silica Sand (i think for ash trays). you think that would be ok, or should I get like normal sandbox sand? I'm assuming whatever I go with should be a sterilized product.

Ok, so here is the deal, I really like the idea of making it rain, it does make sense... BUT, don't you ever find it to be a little impractical? I do want to to all that I can for my garden, make no mistake about that....its just that, do you really move all your plants out of your room every time you water? I have to put them in my shower when I do this b/c of all the runoff. I was totally late for work since it ate up alot more time than I expected. and I only did it to the 4 plants in my tent. if I had done it to all 12 that I actually have growing....I just don't think I'd be up for doing that some much. My plants go dry every other day. so that just seems like tons of in and out from my tent. For now I am still gonna roll with tho :)

you will love the results...yes I do realize as I do the same...but only two right now...But it is so easy as it works so well provides awesome growth with keeping things in control EASILY...a little more work but eliminates a lot of worries and concerns as well...more than worth the work in my eyes...when my room is done it will have a drain built into the floor so no more moving ...but until then big arms...lol

I hate taking those plants in and out of my tent too and I am also using my shower for run off.
BUT....when I get next day instant results. I will keep on doing it.

Take a look at these two pics.
1st pic of "Stranger" was taken yesterday after I Made it Rain on her and she was droopy.
Next pic is of "Stranger today still not half way through her light of 12/12 and look how perk-a-licious she is. Thats why I like it and I know she is sucking up those fresh nutes I gave her yesterday.
I am SOLD, my problem was reading these babies but I think I am dialing in on them now! If you not comfortable with it just do it with one plant so you can compare to another plant on your regular way of feeding. That would be very interesting to see if you want to do it. You will see a difference for sure.

Ok, very true, well I must say, among all other growers I've talked to, none have heard of this method so I'm happy to be on some cutting edge ideas. When I get a ph pen, I will definitly do an experiment with 2 plants of the same strain, one will get "rain", other will get my normal methods. For now when I can't REALLY dial in my ph anyway, I am gonna just feed nutes 2x in a row, followed by plain water, with a full flush every 2 weeks. As soon as I get the ph pen tho, its on!!!

Layering sand on the top inch or two of your pots will also help get rid of the gnats
I bought standard "play sand" at home depot today, its on my plants, so I'll keep everyone posted on the results. 50lbs was 3 dollars, haha, if this alone works, best solution for gnats ever!! (i did put a strip of sticky fly tape in my room too)

CO is a great place to be when the snow flies. I assume you'll be in the Summit area?

It worked for me!

Sub'ed....I am also on my first grow...but you know WAAAY more than i do. I saw that you put down what kind of nutes your giving the plants, but what do they do? Which ones would you recommend i use and how often?
