America's "gun problem"

First post here and I would of never thought it would be about firearms.

The United States Dept. Of Justice has even stated that gun bans don't reduce gun murders. So what is this crazy anti-gun talk all about? I assume it's all about gun registration for future confiscation. How the NRA reacts to the new NFA proposals from the gungrabbers will say a lot on where we are headed. This really is a flip of the coin or a fork in the road point. Most would think it impossible for new gun laws to be passed in congress but some republicans are backing the idea of a new ban.

  • Bans the sale, transfer, importation, or manufacturing of:
    • 120 specifically-named firearms;
    • Certain other semiautomatic rifles, handguns, shotguns that can accept a detachable magazine and have one or more military characteristics; and
    • Semiautomatic rifles and handguns with a fixed magazine that can accept more than 10 rounds.
  • Strengthens the 1994 Assault Weapons Ban and various state bans by:
    • Moving from a 2-characteristic test to a 1-characteristic test;
    • Eliminating the easy-to-remove bayonet mounts and flash suppressors from the characteristics test; and
    • Banning firearms with “thumbhole stocks” and “bullet buttons” to address attempts to “work around” prior bans.
  • Bans large-capacity ammunition feeding devices capable of accepting more than 10 rounds.
  • Protects legitimate hunters and the rights of existing gun owners by:
    • Grandfathering weapons legally possessed on the date of enactment;
    • Exempting over 900 specifically-named weapons used for hunting or sporting purposes; and
    • Exempting antique, manually-operated, and permanently disabled weapons.
  • Requires that grandfathered weapons be registered under the National Firearms Act, to include:
    • Background check of owner and any transferee;
    • Type and serial number of the firearm;
    • Positive identification, including photograph and fingerprint;
    • Certification from local law enforcement of identity and that possession would not violate State or local law; and
    • Dedicated funding for ATF to implement registration.

Because using an axe just wears me out. All that chasing and swinging. Sometimes the shits can outrun me. Lost 6 of them that way just this last year. Also, drive-bys become nearly impossible with a bladed instrument. You exercise your power over life and death with every breath you take.

I feel it at least pertinent to point out that semiautomatic firearms in the 'AR' platform, are not "Assault Rifles'.

The 'AR' moniker, is from 'Armalite' not 'Assault Rifle'.

Assault Rifles are fully automatic firearms, or selective fire firearms, designed specifically for military use.

However, the convenient and compact form factor, detachable high capacity magazine, and ability to buy and use the same FMJ ammo that the military uses makes the AR-15 particularly deadly to those who wish to use it in a malevolent manner.

The same can be said about AK variants too, like the CZ 858, or Norinco's etc....

Anyways, assault weapons are fully automatic.

So you get robbed ,you feel you have the right to put that person in the ground? A life gone in a pull of a trigger..

Where's the compassion? How about just having a police force that worked and put robbers in jail? And as for murderers.. I say ,if someone breaks into your house with the intent to murder you ,they probably will unless your clint eastwood or something.Just admit it ,guns are toys and you like playing with them,doesnt matter how many kids die as a product of that

The real American problem with guns is the government keeps using them to kill people. Bush and Obama even wanted to let there drug dealer friends in Mexico join in as well.

Most pot growers are adverse to having full-time police protection on their property. Nor can anyone but the rich afford it. Anyone with a gun and the ability to use it is just as effective as Clint Eastwood. Just admit it , guns are effective defense and you don't like others owning them, doesn't matter how many kids die as a product of not being defended.

Becuase it is my god given right to have any armament I want or feel the need to protect myself and those I love?

I just got off of the phone with your god and he has rescinded your right to do what ever you say he says. He said that he didn't have anything to do with the second amendment and in general he feels that we do to much bad is his name and would prefer that we don't use his name to justify our opinions. Just thought you'd like to know.
