Banana Method?!?

Interesting tidbit. This time of year everyone is giving away apples, now we all know what to use them for.

Here is a good site that list the Ethylene gas output by a variety of different fruits and vegatables. They state that apples will actually put out more Ethylen than bananas. As the fruit ripens it releases the gas and speeds up the ripening process of the fruit around it. That is where the saying came from that one bad apple can spoil the bunch.

Da,m..thats very good information right there...excellent post and research. It really does open thoughts for some other theories..What if you cure buds in a jar with an apple inside? What effect will the ethylene have on the buds as they cure?
Can the ethylene "ripen"the buds even more, such as making it more indica?

What about placing fruits like bananas or apples on the base of a pot??Will the ethylene make the flowers mature faster..meaning will they be ready on around 7 weeks??

I don't think I'd put the apple in during cure. I'd be worried about mold and mildew. If you happen to try it, let us know how it went. Be cool if it made the buds taste like apples, kind of a cool change of pace.

i was gonna put some seeds out January (doesen't go below 50 here)
so now i'm thinking about doing this until then so this is what i'm planning to do:

1. get a container

2. surround the sides and bottom with banana peels

3. put a DRY paper towel (with the seeds inside) into the container

4. air out every once in a while

5. when banana peels are close to mushy, replace,

6. clean out jar every once in a while

7. change towels every once in a while

so this would produce 100 % females without rotting the seeds?

Doesn't sound too far from a realistic possibility. If anyone tries this please keep us posted obviously!

Somewhere around this site is a thread where a guy flushed his plants using apple juice and I'm pretty sure he got bigger buds than he did using molasses.

It worked for me, constantly apply bannanas around the plant from seed through veg. Right before you flower, take the bannanas away.

Lol..I bet he'll think twice about jumping in a thread, sayin' something stupid like that.Anyways, apart from this minor asshole interruption, who has any new ifo on this banana method.Has anyone else tried it,or is currently trying it?How long does the peels last before they turn all soggy and nasty??

I'm going to try apples myself. It seems to me that an apple would take longer to get all funky than a banana would. Bananas seem to turn to funk in about a week.

Ok..aso how are you going to do this? Are you going to place the banana in whole,or in pieces..Id prefer bananas cus theyll start giving off ethylene almost instantly, but with an apple..t mght take a while for it to start decomposing..
