Hey all

This is off topic for my current research. I am a fan of Hash, oil and squidgy black (I beleive it is known as jelly hash in the US), Recently I researched on how its made.

Bubble hash - using a bubble bag and plant matrial
Screen hash - using a screen and pressed
Oil - made from plant matrial using BHO
Jelly hash - is just oil and unpressed hash mixed together

What other types are there like Ice bubble, Ice wax. And all of these wax variations?
Once I know what im looking for I can reasearch and educate myself :)

I also approve a sticky topic w/ all the types and explanation, it was too many names for me on the start and very confusing

Theyre all the same thing just about

Theres only a few ways you can make hash and most people change them slightly by using different chemicals.

Bubble hash is made using bubble bags and water and plant material.

Which then has to be dried out. Its a long process

People can take the same bag and put dry ice into it and plant material and shake it out on a glass table.

This is called dry ice hash or dry ice siv

After that you got your chemical extractions.

Theres Butane (and the rest of the tanes) and thats where you put the plant material in a tube and blow liquid butane through it and it evaporates instantly because the boiling temp of butan is below 0 degrees.

After all the tanes theres isopropyl alcohol extraction. (you can also you any of the alcohols although some will leave more harmful products than other.

You just mix with your plant material then strain all the plant material out and either boil the alcohol off or let it slowly evaporate.

This is probably what you call "jelly hash" because typically theres a little water left in it so people mix in plant material to dry it out.

Besides that theres "shatter" which is usually super critical CO2 extraction.

complicated but basically they use co2 to extract so there are no chemicals left in the finished product.

Bubble and ice wax and anything with water (including gumby hash where the trichs are allowed to sink to the bottom and the weed/ plant material is skimmed off rather than filtering the mix) are grades/ methods of making ice water hash. The idea here is to not solvents since water does not dissolve THC and the mixing with water is a method of gathering trichomes that uses low temps to break the trichs off of the plant material and then filter/ separate the sizes/ grades of trichomes.

Screen hash is kief where the trichs are gathered dry either with a screen or dry ice (same idea as ice water: make it cold) it is a powder that can be pressed and can be from light yellow/ blonde to brown depending on the amount of plant matter other then trichs in the hash.

Oil is where a solvent is used to dissolve the thc, cbd, terpines and such and then the solvent is evaporated/ removed when made properly. The solvent can be as said any of the *tanes (butane is very popular), alcohol which includes isopropyl (rubbing alcohol) and ethanol (drinking alcohol), and super critical C02. Where the C02 and weed are under high pressure and the C02 becomes a liquid (rather than a solid or gas like it is at normal atmospheric pressure) then when it is back to atmospheric pressure the C02 turns to a gas and leaves the solution leaving the oil. Anything that dissolves THC in solution can be used as a solvent. But solvents can lead to more than just oil there are other forms such as wax where it is whipped to varying degrees and consistencies, shatter where the hash will be brittle and breaks and probably some others types that I do not know much about. I believe a powder hash can also be made with some process involving a solvent.

Solvent hashes are inherently dangerous to make and consume if not done properly. They are also damn tasty and can be very high in THC, even up to ~75%. Almost every solvent used is flammable and most also should also not be consumed (ethanol/ drinking alcohol is an exception to this and is safe to consume at least orally- to the stomach - assuming food grade or better ethanol was used) and so the solvents must be removed/ purged from the mix in order for the hash to be safe for consumption.

I have not heard the term jelly hash before but I agree with budbro that it is most likely iso.

I was looking for info on how to make squidy black (as is know in the UK) sort of like had put ou have to roll it out in a sausage to be able to roll it up doesnt bong too well either!
When I google jell hash the explanation that I got was cannabis oil is mixed with un pressed hash - about 75% - 25 % ratio
we also have something known as pollen - whihc is just basciall high grade has
thanks for the repsonse, I guess i know all the methods then and just need to research a little more :)

another post for another thread - but I would like to know how the hash in the UK is made. I read a reciepe a few years ago and it was nasty!!

something like 200g dried plant waste
7 - 10g Bbud
coffee powder / heena
turps
condensed milk

Sounds Lovely!

Hey guys.
not sure if anyone cares, but this is what I know as squidgy black (and is what I assume jelly hash was after reading the description)
http://www.onlinepot.org/hash/guide2hash.htm
Like the indian charas, morrocan caramello and the nepal temple ball. Although here wee get brands known as gold seal / red seal. And our stuff is not as potent as this stuff (I know as i had some of these in Holland) :)
the pollen I refered to is the morrocan honey hash

Its all the same stuff basicall - known by different name
