I think if you're comparing the cheaper chinese drivers like philips or inventronics to meanwell they are fairly equal in price. What people tend to do is compare cheaper drivers to the HLG series which is about the most expensive Meanwell. There are plenty of cheaper options among meanwell drivers that are very comparable to the prices of philips/inventronics. You also get a better quality driver with Meanwell and a longer warranty. You can buy Meanwell drivers in the 150w range that are between $50-$75 from Mouser. Shipping is free if you spend over $100 which also adds to the value.
For me, I don't mind spending a bit more for drivers considering how important they are. I appreciate having a longer warranty and better quality when it comes to something as important as a driver.
So basically I paid $100 per driver for 2 x HLG-240H-C1400B. $105 to be exact, shipped to my door.

You're totally right! Thanks for pointing that out! Mouser is about the same price.

My order was under 100$ so that's why I paid more than I should have - darn.

I was excited to find the Philips drivers, I am not an expert: I see the efficiency curve isn't as good as the meanwell, but I wouldn't have thought Philips drivers are considered cheap.

I agree for a bit more it makes sense to spend for a better quality item.

I didn't mean they are cheap. I just meant they are cheaper. They are all chinese so it's not like where they come from matters either. All these drivers have their place. I bought my HLG's with long term use in mind so the extra few bucks didn't hurt so much.

are those phillips drivers very efficient..?
I misread the efficiency charts

115v Philips at full load is

the efficiency at full load between the Philips and mean well on 110v is almost the same, 92%

The meanwell is though maintains that efficiency as you dim and then drops off at lower power. The Philips though starts dropping efficiency as soon as you start to dim

The meanwell is 7 years warranty
The Philips is 5

An extra 25$ for the mean well, I guess it is not a big deal

I like the jacket and shielding over the wires on the HLG's also. But yeah, for something you'll use for maybe 10 years, spending a few extra bucks for a better warranty and a bit better quality is worth it to me. I'd rather buy cheaper cobs since cob technology is changing constantly. A person probably won't be running the same cobs in 5 or 10 years but that driver will always be good to go.

Here it is - pricing Vero 18 gen 7 with drivers from Future.
I guess my spreadsheet needs more supplier columns.

Edit - I have a lettuce/greens garden so I'm not looking at the Vero 29s just yet.

I'm not sure the part numbers or if they would even be enough.
I've sent cob kits a few messages and an email but he doesn't respond or takes forever.
I was thinking 6 citizen 1818's in either 3500 or 4000k 90 cri
The area I'm hoping to cover is 2x4x5high

How low do you think the new Vero 10s have to be driven before you can screw it to a piece of wood?

Call me crazy, but I don't give a fuck.
Though light strips are much better suited for wood mounting.
Still waiting for the Samsung H series gen 3 to be available with a low minimum order quantity
