Good on him, maybe why he left the party ,as not to use taxpayer money for his defense, or to magnify the damage done? The plot thickens. Either way sitting as an independent doesn't serve your constituents very well IMO.

Even if he wins, it will provide little solace as the damage is done. As soon as it was published he was guilty in the eyes of many. Perfect example is what happened to Patrick Brown here in Ontario, accusations published and forever tarnished. Without those accusations against him, he would most likely still be the premier of Ontario.

@Cannasaurus Rex - he wouldn't be using taxpayer money for his defence, HE HAS NOT BEEN CHARGED WITH ANYTHING.

Perfect example right there. God damn conservatives. FFS

Disagree, we are only beginning to acknowledge every citizens struggles throughout history. I do agree about wearing the wrong shirt and you're an enemy - but that is nothing new, just being applied to people that haven't experienced it as much throughout history.

I have no issue if these folks get cancelled,

But to each their own.
Just my opinion, but that last picture has no place in the response to the intent of the post. I'm still pissed off that they changed the name of our football team after decades of excellence under the Eski's. That certainly doesn't mean that I'm a right wing neo fascist that wants Anarchy as the final solution. It's totally conflating the issue.

I was shocked at the specific nature of the accusation and its seriousness, I'm a bit familiar with the liable laws in Canada and thought the publisher would be too. He will be cleared, the whole country isn't electing him, his riding is and he should be able to clear it up there. He will sit as an independent until the inquiry is finished and then back in the party, quite a bit richer!

Shit is creeping into our territory. Not to break up the laughs.

Not good, and the concerning part is there doesn't appear to be a quick or easy way to stop this trend, more dangerous for everyone.

From an article in The Globe and Mail in December:

Mark Baxter, president of the Police Association of Ontario, called the recent deaths heartbreaking, saying that in his 18 years of policing he’s “never seen anything like this.”
“It really speaks to some greater societal challenges that we have,” said Baxter, challenges that include access to help for mental health, addiction and homelessness.
“Without proper supports, without people checking on them all of these have cascading effects,” said Baxter. “We’re seeing a rise in violence across the country.”
“We’re seeing a rise in police officers use-of-force incidents with members of the public.”

Maybe not but it’s the kind of thing right wing neo fascists get pissed off about too.

Must be a coincidence.
Must be. Tell me, what has the name change done for the Inuit people? Has it helped funding with respect to housing and basic living essentials, like clean water, shelter, sewage, and other basic infrastructure needs? How has my minor grievance of a name change helped the population up north with their education system, sewage needs, and roadways? Would you like to cast further aspersions on me because I consider there are a whole hell of a lot more issues that need to be taken care of, like the systemic racism that envelops our Native communities right across the entire nation?

Or can I hold a small grievance of a name change while considering and doing what I can to actually help change what matters? Is that coincidence enough?

Just so I understand, you claim to be a champion for indigenous people while being “pissed off” a derogatory, colonial term used to describe indigenous people is no longer the name of your football team.

sure, that makes sense.
