Looking great Java. I was really looking into adding one of the Kessil 150's to supplement my 250 HPS. They look like they are well designed and crafted. What color spectrum do you have?

Thanks for the good word MH!

SS, I got one Purple and one Magenta. The former is a tad more
spread across the spectrum where the latter is for flowering.

At 95 watts they are quite bright.

Take care,

JD

P.S. The charts for the 350s are here

Hello all,

I wanted to add that I have transplanted the newly popped beans
into small pots. This has already had a benefit to those beans I had
started in the less beneficial soil.

I am pretty sure that the soil had compacted somewhat in the slow
seedlings cups. The better ones had more perlite in their mix.

Here is the group shot:

You can see the stronger plants stand out as larger and darker.

The good news is that all of them are taking well to the change
and getting stronger daily.

Here they are. They were popped a month ago. (what a diff the soil can make!)

Hey,

I checked the tent this morning and confirmed that I have aphids.

No worries....yet. I have added a few hundred Lady Bugs. We will
see what I find tonight. I am at six weeks this week but expect to go
at least 8-9 and so might be willing to spray the right stuff....but I will
probably hold off. They are very light in their footprint at this point.

I will be monitoring them as closely as possible though.

Take care,

JD

Thanks Beech.

While I cannot really get at all of my babies, I do spend a fair amount
of time staring at them :0) and so I notice things pretty quickly.

So, the problem is very small at this point. I had a hard time convincing
myself at first...but a couple of leaves were clear involved.

I dumped 100s of LadyBugs into the tent. I have only found one
in the man-cave so far. They are staying in the tent.

I need to get about three more weeks. This is 6 weeks from flip, today.

I will post some photos tonight, as "night" has started. It is a riot in there.

I will want to expand my Veg activity, to perhaps go for a main-lined grow.

Take care, and thanks for stopping by.

Wish ya had a time lasp recorder to watch the lady bugs, in action!!

Oh...that would be cool.

I would also enjoy some micro-filming....a movie, slowed slightly, of them munching
would be extreme. (think Praying Mantis, just not *quite* as alien ;0)

I am hopeful that they will do the trick alone, but will be watching!

Hello all,

Yesterday marked the end of week #6.

I expect to take the Qrazy Train, the PurpleBerry, and anything else
that has finished, in about two weeks.

I fed the ladies plain water for two feedings, two days apart, last week,
and I noticed the first signs of N def and last night I gave them a good
strong feed that included Overdrive and B-52 as planned.

There will likely be only one more supplemented feed, then it will be only
the Botanicaire standards, plus molasses, until I switch to plain water for
the longer running strains. (the early finishers, ie. QT, will not be fed again)

For the record, I am aware of the fact that this grow is a massive advertizement
for main-lining!

Here we are, at four weeks...something of a scan from the bottom up:
Week6-1.jpg
Week6-2.jpg
Week6-3.jpg
Week6-4.jpg

Some closer-ups.

Remember that the front row, the AK and the PurpleBerry are intentionally
over-shadowed by the other breeds that I am growing this Crop.

But the AK-47 is insisting on pushing up at least one strong cola:
1-AK47.jpg

PurpleBerry BXII:
The PB is all little buds. No worries. I am starting my last two beans of
this breed and so I might get another female to work with.
2-PBBX.jpg

Blue Cheese:
Very Strong Genetics! I am enjoying the early-taken-gnat-crop very much
and expect this to be much stronger when allowed to fully mature.
3-BlueCheese.jpg

Deadhead OG Pheno2:
This pheno threw up long branches, right into the light, and it did not like
my having to snap them over....but the result seems to be turning out to
be a big bowl of buds of the same relative size. (seen better in the wide
shots above)
4-Deadhead-P1.jpg

Qrazy Train:
Strong Genetics! A very tasty smoke, and looking to finish first, as expected.
5-QrazyTrain.jpg

Chem 4 OG:
This and Somango might be my favorites. A close up is included.
6-Chem4OG.jpg
6-Chem4OG-sm.jpg

Deadhead OG Pheno1:
This Pheno is showing more resin at this stage...but it also gets hit better by both
of the two Kessil LEDs.
7-Deadhead-P2.jpg

Somango:
8-Somango.jpg

The new babies are rocking:

And the clones are picking up:

Onward and upward,

JD

P.S. Those two non-canabis plants among the clones are 1 Oregano and 1 Blackberry.

Amazing stuff JD! I really have to check out the Chem4, sounds like you would highly recommend it. I really like the Somango, but wow Soma's gear is so pricey. Like most things, you get what you pay for. I can imagine how tasty she is! Keep it up man, you're killing it.

Thanks SS. It is good to have you here.

If you are ever heading near the SoCal area. Let me know.

Of all my breeds, Somango is the one confirmed keeper. I am thinking that the
Chem 4 might join this group.

I wanted to post an update, as I had noticed the beginning of an infestation.

The good news: the Lady Bugs are working. I am extremely relieved that,
at week 7, I am not going to have to spray the ladies.

I actually got to watch one...she walked along a leaf, moved the the underside
and then began to Hoover her way along the leaf. She clearly paused as she
munched something.

Another odd note...well, I am learning....but I have come to realize that I have
been growing the ladies with a very lean feed/water regimen.

It is like this, I started off with *fully* drenched (full hempy rez) 5 gallon
buckets of good soil. This gave the ladies a serious surplus of water when
they started.

Then we all know that the feed-needs of these plants grows a great deal
as flowering takes off.

I basically had a system where they needed little or no watering for a couple
of weeks. I was adding a liter twice a week and this kept it going.

I was, and still am really, just looking to the leaves to tell me when they
were wanting water.

Well, This went on over the last month. I began to notice that the leaves
seemed to drop after only a day or two after each watering.

I have stepped the feedings up.

This is just another learning step for me.

Really, it is just another endorsement of my using one-screen-per-plant.

This inability to get at the plants is maddening. Lesson learned. :0)

Week 7 photos in two days. I am about two weeks out.

Take care,

JD

When I planned my screens the one major factor I took into account was access to the plants. It's the main reason I went to individual screens per bucket. Really works well and allows me to change the plant position under the lights and really even out the light spread. I just used some small diameter metal rod I got from the Home Depot and some wire clothes hangars to attach to the buckets. Stable and durable, worked great for me.

Good to hear the ladybugs are going to work. I am looking forward to the cold temps and not having to worry about bringing home unwanted guests everytime I do yardwork. Peace man

Hello all,

I reached Week 7 from flip today.

Week7.jpg

Things look pretty good in there. There is a lot of frost happening.

....but I am more and more aware just how lean a diet I have grown these ladies on.

What I have done is water/feed them whenever they showed the need. I like to let them
dry out between feedings.

This has never been a problem, and was not for the grow, insofar as the ladies
look healthy and happy.

...but I am getting the strong impression that the bud development has suffered
to some extent. The colas are just a bit smaller than I am sure they should be.
I grew out both AK-47 and Somango, which are in the tent, and so I know what
they can do.

Not to worry, as the quality looks to be very good.

My future grows will demand that I am able to take the plants out to give them
more specific attention and care. I am already looking forward to getting Kosher,
Skywalker, Sour, etc going.

Here is a very lovely Somango top:
Somango.jpg

The Deadhead is more the string of pearls than a main cola...but the buds are pretty:
DH1.jpg

I cannot wait to taste the Chem 4:
Chem4.jpg
Chem4closeup.jpg

The BLue Cheese and Qrazy Train are probably the strongest plants in the tent.

BC:

QT:
QrazyTrain.jpg

That is all for now folks.

I am torn on the harvest date....I am feeling some pressure to take the
whole tent at once.

In any case, the Lady Bugs are giving me the freedom to go eight weeks at least.

Take care,

JD

Hi Java, I actually kept myself from looking here for a while and I see HUGE progress on them buds!!! Must be getting real stinky in that tent :) Somago, what a porn-star she is!

About the transplants and clones: I had the EXACT, PRECISE same issue. Same colouring, same burned edges. One thing to check ASAP: Soil pH. My babies looked like this because of a too low pH locking out Mg, but the Mg issue has persisted all the way till now even, clones are SUPER-Mg hungry.

Foliar feeding with Epsom Salts really works FAST and is my go-to treatment now the substrate pH is perfect. I have a pic of what mine ended up looking like, excuse the bad HPS colouring but it will be enough to recognise as exactly what is troubling your babies:

I just checked my seeds, as I am getting some new ones
from Attitude tonight, and I found that I have an OG #18
from Reserva Privada! Yeah!

I was about to buy a couple.

I am getting Kosher and Skywalker Kush, Headband, LA
Confidential, Chemdog, Grinspoon, Durban Poison, Blue Dream.

What was funny is that my pile of freebies has gotten big.

Anyone want to comment on any of these:

G13 Labs White Lavender
Barney's Farm Morning Glory
Green House Seeds Arjan Haze #1
Green House Seeds Lemon Haze
Barney's Farm G13 Haze
Nirvana Seeds Snow White
Cannaventure's Moms Mix
Paradise Seeds Nebula
Green House Seeds White Widow
G13 Labs Cheese
CH9 Seeds Vintage 2006
CH9 Jack
Dinafem Blue Hash

I think that I read where CH9 seeds hermed out of someone....

Take care,

JD
I know this is late to the party but I tried Ch9s jack, vintage 2006, and humboldt. the jack and the humboldt both got PM like no ones business. My indoor, outdoor, and my friends outdoor all got powder mold on only the ch9 strains. I ended up discontinuing them.

Thanks PP. It is good to have you here.

I will watch the CH9 seeds. I am very lucky when it comes
to PM where I am...as far as cannabis goes. It does attack
my squash, but not my indoor efforts, so far.

I was glad to see your recent efforts take off after the initial
difficulties. (I recall the clones not rooting...or so it seemed at first)

Take care,

JD
