Well unfortunately lady luck wasn't on my side. I had 3 males out 4 which was a little depressing to say the least but in a way I'm glad it happened because now I'm on my way to a perpetual grow. Thanks to ClosetGrowth for pushing me in the right direction and with his infinite wisdom I decided to make a veg/clone room. It's just a basic set up now but I will try to improve on it as time goes by.
I'll start this off with just a cpl of pics of my very lonely female and some minor improvements to the room. I put my girl in a 5 gallon DWC I've had for over 20 years. Now I'm finally getting some use out of it. I had to buy a new lid and cut a five inch hole in it for the net pot and replace the rubber fill line hose Plus I had to drill a cpl holes for my air lines and PH/ppm probes plus 2 more for my chiller. I also replaced my Oscillating fan for one that fits in my room and blows right between the hood and the top of my plant. I got it hanging on a frame covered with peg board. That way I can move the fan up the board as the plant grows. It's working out nicely.
First day by herself no clones taken yet.
Here are some close ups.
Here she is today after I took some clones plus the fan upgrade.
I also moved the chiller in the room. It woks a lot better without having to pump through 15ft of tube.
Now on to the veg/clone room. I got another closet with the same dimensions as the one I'm in now. I cleaned it all out and washed all the walls down with warm bleach water. The shelf was made out of 3 shelves that were in already in there, that I put together to make one big shelf. It makes it much easier to work and .I didn't need 8 feet of grow space. Eventually I'm gonna have a mother plant in there producing all my clones. Plus I like the storage space underneath. For now I just have a cheap light I threw together just to keep the clones alive until I can put them into the flower room.
The light was made from a cheap hood I got at Lowes. I got 4 CFL's rated @ 6500k. They are each 26 watts but equal to a 100 watts of light. So I guess you could say I'm running 400 watts. I don't know but it sounds good.
Here is the light
The bulbs.
The next two picks are just some supplies I bought to get this thing going.
Now on to the room.
I took the light and cut about 16 slits up the side with a pair of shears. I flattened it out and covered with aluminum tape. The bulbs were a tight fit and this helped a lot.
I hung the light with an adjustable shower curtain rod. I came in real handy, I just move the rod up or down if needed.
I took 8 clones but 2 of em didn't make it, so I'm left with 6 but that's cool because I only need 4 when the time comes. I'm not sure if I'm gonna try and use a clone for a mother plant or when the time comes just harvest the buds off the female I have now then just re veg her. I don't know I'll just cross that bridge when I come to it. I don't want to get to far ahead of myself.
Here are my poor little clones the day of the deed.
Here they are today and they are looking much better.
Here is the two little girls that didn't make it. I don't know what happened I did everything exactly the same.
While I was at Lowes I seen a fixture that was capable of holding 4 2ft fluorescent bulbs. I think that's what I'm gonna go with down the road to maintain a mother plant.
This veg room is still work in progress and I have a ways to go yet. I still need some good air flow in there. I'm gonna have to cut a hole in the ceiling to get some proper ventilation. The temps in there now are around 80 degrees.
Well that's all I got for now and I hope you enjoyed the show.
All questions and comments are welcome.
Peace.
