Are these babies on schedule or is this difference in growth to be expected ?

  • Yea, its fine. They are different strains, so different characteristics. Dont worry about it

I wouldn't clip them. I wouldn't even think of clipping anything until the plant gets a good root system going and is steadily growing. Also, could you not find anything like this?

One of those can get 1-2 plants through veg cycle and has a pretty good output. I'm using this style of CFL for my entire grow with pretty decent results. Trust me I did mine under regular CFL's and they grew like yours, then I switch to these and they took off. They come in various spectrums and I've even found them at walmart. They're a bit more per bulb, but then you wont have to buy the multi-bulb adapters.

EDIT: Also what kind of soil are you using? Looks like there's wood chips in it and that type of soils isn't very conducive for growing herb.

It's doing much better let it recover and don't chop at it.

The yellowing of starter leaves happens they will fall off when done.

Don't let it dry out all the way and start dropping from lack of water. once it looks pretty dry and needs water give it some.

Anyhow you are doing much better and smaller pots like that will dry out faster.

You know what happens over watering and what it looks like dry....just don't go to far into extremes! :P

Yeah I saw some of those LEDs, but when i was looking for fluoros. The one you linked me was only 11watts, are you sure thats good for 1 plant ? do LEDs work different with watts and such ?

The soil is this osmosis seedling thing, There is a pic of the bag on the first page if you want to look. Im def going to get better soil.

Well I honestly just picked the first link I could find, not necessarily what I am using or suggesting. I didn't pay much attention to wattage as wattage only tells you the energy draw of that bulb. Sure higher wattages are indicative of more power, but it doesn't always make a better light when you're talking about energy efficient lighting. CFLs use a lot less wattage than their comparable incandescent lights, yet they can put out more lumens. Even more so with LEDs, an LED comparable to 60W incandescent bulbs may only draw 9W of power. The lights I am using claim to put out over 900 lumens and they are 26 watt lights. As I said, I feel the most advantage these lights have is the ability to direct the light in one direction as opposed to loosing that lighting power in directions you don't need light (upwards). The power of these compared to a standard CFL bulb is much more advantageous even on a budget grow.

Also, check out hempy buckets, no soil needed. You basically take a bucket and fill it 75% perlite and 25% vermiculite ( both are cheap) and drill a hole on the side of the bucket 2" up from the bottom. The 2" on the bottom creates a reservoir and you can lift the bucket and tell when the reservoir is empty and you need to water. When the plants hit the reservoir, they explode in growth. It also helps prevent you from guessing at how much water to water with. when it comes out of the hole, you stop. Read up on it an consider it as it is a very fool-proof method.

Ill buy those flood lights when/if I need more light, but right now ive got so many cfls i've bought and i dont wanna put em to waste. I also have one of these coming in, so hopefully i wont need to buy any anytime soon.

As for the hempy buckets, I gotto say thanks a lot. I had never see this system before you mentioned it, i read all i could find about it and I am really interested in doing that.

She would be bigger if I started her on organic soil from a seedling. And some reflective material (I use diamond foil mylar) to help you from wasting light.

update:
yesterday she was looking like shit. i think the flies are killing her.. idk what else could be doing this.. anyone know ?
2016-05-24 11.37.53 HDR.jpg
I ended up cutting off the dead leaves and gave her a but of nute water. It was only a little. I used a syringe to water her under the soil so the topsoil wouldnt be nice and moist for those bastard flies.

Today she looks much better, the leaves are back up from the wilt, but im seeing black spotsin the middleof the leaves.. could it be nuteburn or the flies doing this ?

4 Days Ago i decided it was time for major change.

I removed her from that shitty soil as gently as i could.
2016-05-26 18.43.12 HDR.jpg
Put her in a bigger pot, Got the best soil i could find, tomatoe stuff, blood and bone etc etc. the shit feels like quality.
Make a hempy bucket with perlite only for the 2 bottom inches, then the rest is the good soil mixed with about 40% perlite.

It was looking very sick when i took it out. leaves felt dry, wilty, and light with very little growth. there was only 2x 20watt cfls in there, no reflection and average temps of about 20ºC (too cold fo my liking).

2016-05-30 14.47.35 HDR.jpg
This is about 3-4 days after transplant. The leaves are not dry, wilty, or pale. The color seems to be getting much darker at the top, but the tip of the leaves are still burning it seems like. Is this nute burn ? the water i used to fill the hemp bucket had like.. maybe 5-10% nutes max. How long should this persist before i should think it might be something else ?
Anyway at least its looking much better and I'm noticing growth from day to day.

Ive changed the location as well, I think this is much better.
Oh ! also i got this 4x 55watt 6500k light.
I'm only using 2 T5 tubes right now (110watts). Will put in more as the size increases and grow area gets used up.
Here is a widershot of thearea:
