Has anyone done pot size - yield Experiments?

well as long as I don't have to do the repotting, Im ok with you using a 400 gallon pot, but really only reason IMO to use a pot outdoors is if you have really crappy soil or want to be able to move em for safety reasons, the ground and the Sun is the pure reason why your able to grow them monsters outdoors

how deep are those bags burried ?

well with a bit of calculation, I found that 400 gallon is equal to 1,500 liters !!!!

and 1500 liter is equal to 1,5 cubib meter, my best guess according to them pics, is that them Bag`s is only half of that in diameter so they must be sticking 3 meters down !!!

have a look at this pages/calculator

http://www.soilsaintsoils.com.au/Resources/Soil-Calculator.aspx

1 trailer load (I guess a normal small trailer) is 0,7 cubic meter so you will need 2 trailer full to fill a 400 gallon pot/hole

Edit: just for fun, I did try to see what the soil would cost at my local grow shop, and they do sell soil in units with 60 bags of soil on each, with 50L in each = 3000L = two pots = 3,600 Danish money = 625 $

best of luck

yup, about the size of a car, lol, that super sized pot image you posted yesterday wasnt too far of, lol
I guestimated that the pic the dude above posted with the bags would be about 1/10th of the 1500L hehe

Im wondering if the "mistake" was made with gallon Vs liter in the first place ?

400L is 100 gallon roughly and is 8 big bag`s of soil, still pretty big, but not to fare off them Pot`s in the ground and do make more sense

Im sure you can get 400 gallon bag`s but Im also sure its made for other then 1 year plant`s

It does get me thinking, what would happen ... a 400 gallon bag filled with all mix or something, half up out of the ground for areating purposes (smart pot) :)
Root stimulators.
In a climate like mexico, in an outdoor grow house / tent where you can pump extra co2.

ohw damn.

Don't know if you are entirely serious with your opening post mate, but you should visit the Irish growers thread on this site, they are going to love you mate.

yep with a hugh stavia plant, maybe one you have had indoors under some MH light and repotted a few times over the winter, so you have a hugh Veg. plant once its spring and you plant her out in the green house, could be fun to see how big you actually could grow a plant

400 gallons is way overkill. And for the mix,I wouldnt dig anything up from the ground to put in a container plant. Stick with the planting mix with the compost and perlite.

Great, I think of an interesting question, explain how its relevant to me, throw in a few simple questions anyone who has ever grown before would be able to answer, and what do i get?
Welcome to RIU. No need to get defensive.

Your topic is not interesting. Slip's pic of the pot was interesting and therefore, commented on.

Had you discussed your years of cannabis growing experience and wish to explore larger containers, then we would at least show some respect and invest the time in helping you.

But, this thread is no different than ones posted by a newbs asking for a hardware list to grow a 1000 plants. Basically, you are in over your head if you have to ask.

I'm currently using 5 gal grow bags anyone know the maximum potential yield for that size bag?
depends on the strain and amount of sun and nutes, cant really say for sure but if you get full sunlight, nute properly, and have a high yielding strain you could get around 4 oz if you ask me, could be more but probably less.

Yikes, that's what I was thinking. But now that I have your opinion, I'm got to have to repot them. What's a sufficient size for the goal of a "P" a plant?

I haven't grown a P plant myself but people that have done so im sure would tell you at least 30gal-50gal to be safe. But most of the lb plants ive seen on here were in the ground... unlimited gal grow area as long as you mix part of native soil with your mix so that the roots can spread further easier

Im sorry, but I think your missing sumthing, sure they look nice (cool out door scrog I must say) but try to take a look at his first post, Im not quite sure that is what our new friend is looking for, not very stealthy and just the cost of perlite will probably ruin him

Im a first time grower, and i am not spending this much on soil, my primary concern is just that the grow works.
I was thinking i could probally do 10gallons/40litres.. how does this sound?

It's not a scrog ! Those are fing bushes ! lol Big ones ! And you guys are saying big pots are a waste. The op asked about big pots and yield, and yes, it cost a lot to fill them. Theres a bunch of ill informed and lame post regarding the question. Big pots work and are not a waste . End of story. MJ roots spread out more than they go deep. That's why these pots are only 18" to 2 ft deep but really wide. And that comment is to the guy who keeps asking if 757's pots are buried in the ground.
