i would def vent the light. my plants can touch the glass of my hood and i dont have to worry about burning cause mine are vented. if you do the same u should be fine. 40 inches is pretty damn small tho. think a foot for the light at least and a foot for the pots, and then another 6+ inches for the tips to be away from the lights that only leaves u with 10 inches to grow.

so i have apx 1ft 8'' of comfortable grow room...

If you can get clones you could def do a nice sea of green at 18" tall. It might work out better for you than scrogging. I mean in all actuality if your plants can only grow 18" tall, you won't have any problem with light penetration anyways. The main point of the scrog is to capitalize on your light by giving everything you're growing maximum light...but if you're in a cramped area growing 18" tall plants, you aren't going to have any problems with that. Just pickup a shitload of fairly small pots, find or create a steady way of obtaining clones, and sog the shit outta that area.

deff, but still stuck on the light situation, a 250w-hps usually can get as close as 6-8'' cant it... but i have the bat wing reflector, its not vented... and no in or out vent, just a carbon scrubber with a 105cfm fan, but the room is like only less the 10 sqft so its deff gonna do the job, will it keep the heat and humity down to?

I was hoping to be able to maximize the 40" by using a drip method like the one below. If I put the resevoir off to the side and not under I think space could be saved. My question though is with the grow tray. What is the best setup for rockwool and air stones(I think thats what i've heard them called)? or other? Any recommendations for inside the grow box?

Oh, how deep should the grow box be? I am assuming that the more room for the roots the better? But if I plan to scrog how much room do you suggest?


I greatly appreciate that help.

at least 6'' deep, i was gonna do the exact same setup when i had a box that was 2x2x4.5' but now my setup is 27''x15''x55'' and doing a dwc... sog method..

With the flowering side of my box being 42"L x 27"d x 40"h I am leaning toward using Flourescent HPS bulbs. Would 2 250w be good or do you suggest going higher to like 400w?

How hot do they get compared to HID lamps?

400 ppm grow, 1000 ppm bloom, and 200 ppm liquid karma. LOADIN THEM BITCHES UP! these plants love high nutes, havent had one nute burn yet.

actually the more I read about the different kinds of bulbs the more I like cfl's. The t5 seems to have a pretty good rep. I think that the hps will get too hot for the size of my enclosure (40"h x 27"d x 42" w). I just don't think that having to keep the HPS lights 12-18 inches from the top of the plant is a good usage of my space.

So i'm gonna go with a pair of cfl's, possibly the T5's and supplement it with 900+ led's.

What do you think?

Honestly guys, i kinda find it insulting CFLs are being discussed on my ScrOG. T-5s are cool but im on a mission to mega scrog. I HIGHLY doubt T-5s could be able to do what my 2 600s are doing, but i could be wrong.

After I trimmed just a couple days ago, and layed up under the screen. I realized the whole base of the screeen is ganna be like, a layer of nug. the branches are woven in there together so tight its like a layer of nug! I trimmed soooooo many fan leaves to open up all the colas and let the bottom of the screen get light. BB is getting scared of what might become of this beast.

Sometimes when I'm really stoned, I threaten my plants. "You better grow bigger nugs than that if you want me to stomp the shit out of you," or something like that. I never do this when anyones around though, and it's probably not normal.
