is there a preferred sex for breeding

like does it matter

if i was breeding a kush with a skunk. with what sex from which do i use

do i use the male kush with the female skunk or vice versa

i feel like it should not matter, but some thing is telling me to check with the breeders on here before i mate them:wall:

i know im going to catch hell for this thread - so bring it on:o

NO u wont catch hell for this thread thats actually a go0d question.,.,but imo it doesnt matter it is the same either way.,.,same genetics.,.,u would pick the strongest one from each strain and let nature take course.,.,happy bre3ding

thought so- iam more fond of the kush so i will keep it as a female and let the male of the skunk do its thing

yes yes.,.,a nice test to prove 10o% that our hypothisis is right is to try it both ways if you have extra plants and se3 if they come out identical

tru tru but stil would be a nice xperiment all the while.,.,u could use a clone of both so u could do it on a tiny scale.,.,ya kno

but you have to keep in mind - you still have to smoke the bud after you remove the seeds so if i was crossing with mex then that would have to be the male

It all depends on what traits you wish to pass on to your creation as to what plants of what sex you pick to breed with different plants of a different sex. For example check out the true history of Romulan. It is not at all what most people believe it to be.

Roumours and guesses on the parentage of Romulan abound. Claims that the Romulan is a pure Indica (Afgani/Kush) are mistaken.

While there may be some genetics from Indica (Afgani) varieties, anyone who has tryed the Romulan knows that the mind warping effect is that of plant with strong sativa traits.

`Romulan Joe` and I have had many conversations on the origin of this strain. According to him the original breeders started growing in there backyard and greenhouse in the 50`s, after being introduced to cannabis in the Korean war and bringing home seeds to Victoria.

They struggled to grow and acclimatise these seeds selecting the faster flowering shorter plants from the tall lanky Korean strain.

When the late sixties, early seventies rolled around they began trying Columbian and Mexician seeds and hybredized varieties from these.

In the mid 80`s when the Afgani strains sweept into North America they breifly tried hybredizing with these but eventually when back to selecting the traits they liked in there old genetics.

They worked mainly with Sativa genetics but always selected shorter squatter phenotypes which has made many people think that it is purely Indica strain. But whatever its true geniology is, I`m sure we can all agree on its great taste and high.

its was a gr8 read and im happy that you are friends with some guy who started some strain thats still not kush, what ever, what does this have to do with sex , did he only carry the gene through the males or something seeded and only kept the male then grow the seed looking for that gr8 male then mate it and look for that male again, and over and over

I use a male from both strains and a female from both strains.
Male A with female B and male B with female A.

If I don't have both sexes when crossing 2 strains, I want the female to be the one that is most important.
I can use any male, I just look for the traits I am breeding for in the new plants.

clark, this is exactly what i was looking for, would have loved wore indept detail but still gr8
so let me ask you. do you store all the seed together
and do you grow a seed from each new batch and mate them the same ways

You want a hermi and a true female not a fem seed. Then just put both in togeather and you will come out with more fem seeds.I have crossed many strains some work better than others but skunk 1 is a great female to cross any plant with.
