"MG will kill your plants"... "MG works great for me"... WTF, Mate?

yea any descent grower knows not to start your seedlings in full nuted soil. start off with organic than transplant

Ok well I did my own expiriment FOX FARM OCEAN FOREST VS MG ORGANIC and this is what I found in my conditions:

I mixed my MG with 30% pearlite and also added a good handfull of dolomite lime. I mixed the OCEAN forest soil with nothing. You can checkout my growlog link in my signature, the green pots are the MG and the black pots are ocean forest.

Mg IS crappy ...really crappy....even if you mix it with a bunch of stuff....but no it wont kill your plants and you can start seedlings in it also ...trick is you just watch for your plant to start to have nitrogen defeciency symptoms then start giving your plant nutes, use zero NUTES at all before that point...Dont let the nitrogen deficiency get to much out of hand and its easy to fix your plants will start to green up soon if you caught it quick enough..

Anyway I found MG works but it is total crap...It drains like crap and holds way to much water in comparison to FOX FARM OCEAN FOREST....Id never use it again only as a last resort, however it does work just fine and no its not going to be the direct sole cause of killing a plant..In general your going to
be growing slower and growing less healthy plants especially while your waiting for the nutrients in the MG soil to run out. As soon as you notice the plant has turned pale green and have some yellowing on the bottom leaves then its time to start your nutrients because the MG has ran out of nutrients.

Keep in mind this my experience with my strains in my specific conditions so your results may vary...but I think one lesson could be applied to any MJ GROW and thats: MG does not provide the right nutrient balance for mj plants, additionaly it is a pain in the butt to work with as an indoor gardener the consistency and overall quality is very low grade. However, It does work just fine and will not kill yer plants alone.

I know someone using MG, and their crop is fucking rocking. Please explain how this happens.

Im using MG w/ slow release nutes. i feel like my plants are dying. i have a post up and so far ive heard based on pictures thats is my soil and my over waters. my plants are 2 1/2 wks old and no bigger than a lighter, with tiny second leaves. i fell horrible. ... . . to me, MG = absolute crap for the NOVICE grower. it really has no room for error. . .

i've always had great results using mg potting soil mix. the only differnce i've noticed between ffof and mg is that the ff lightens your billfold a little more. with the mg you know what's is in it. fox farms is a trade secert and don't mark the npk values of their soils.

You shouldn't be putting any seedlings in your soil that early. You're burning the shit out of those plants. You need to keep your seedlings in "jiffy" pucks.

i didnt help that when at walmart i bought everything on impluse. while high. lol . . . i payforthis now.

I use Dr. Earth for everything, and it's proving to be the best investment I could have made as far as soils go.

I have never found flushing makes any difference whatever.

Tomato producers don´t flush tomatoes, they just pick them, taste OK to me.

Just my experience.

i bought a bag of mg moistier control potting soil mix and mixed it 50/50 with compost that i've had cooking since last summer. that mg looked like it would be some pretty good stuff by itself. i'm going to try to do the full grow without adding nutes.

mg works great for growing the reason people tell people not to grow with it is because its not Organic. and if you dont flush it before you cut it down it might leave an after taste in your bud.

I can't count the amount of times I have seen people debate over Miracle Grow products when used to grow cannabis. I've read people's posts about how MG absolutely killed their plants.. and then I've came across other threads talking about how MG worked just fine for them.

So, its a very very popular subject.. and people love to debate/argue about using MG products for growing cannabis.

I personally, used MG soil.. but it was way back 3 or 4 years ago when I first started growing.. and I didn't know any better at the time you know. But, the first (and last) time I used MG soil.. it turned out to be an absolute disaster. It killed my plant.. and I couldn't figure out why.

Then, a few days after my plant died.. I got to thinking about what might have caused my plant to wilt/die as quickly as it did... and I figured it out. I was making a HUGE mistake.

See, MG soil (and other brands of soil) have slow release nutrients already mixed into the soil.. but I didn't realize that at the time and I thought it was just soil. Well, I got to thinking about that.. and remembered that I was also feeding the plant liquid nutrients as well. So, in a nutshell.. the plant was getting overfed by a huge margin!! Not only was the plant getting fed by the premixed nutrients in the soil.. but it was also getting fed by me.. with liquid nutrients. So, with my feeding combined with the feeding from the nutrients already in the soil.. the plant was getting overfed... WAY overfed!!! Therefore, it was getting probably double if not triple the suggested nutrient amount.. and the plant just couldn't handle that high amount of nutrients.. and therefore caused the plant to die.

I'm sharing this story with all of you (especially the noobies).. in hopes to educate all of you about using MG products to grow cannabis. And! Who knows, some of you may have been making the exact same mistake that I was making.

But, either way.. I used the MG soil that one time.. and never have used it again.. nor do I want to use it ever again.

However, there are growers around the site that swear.. that MG works. But, even knowing that it works for some people, that doesn't mean it will work for everyone. So, therefore.. I stay away from any kind of MG product. Rather it be soil; MG nutrients; etc...

If it says 'Miracle Grow' anywhere on the box/package.. I stay away from it... I personally, highly suggest to all the other growers to do the exact same thing and stay away from any MG products.

do you mean flush every day? cuz i had the impression you flush once then just give it water for the last two weeks?

if you have any common sense you would understand its near unavoidable.

it makes PERFECT sense.

MG soil is loaded with nutes already. They are TIME released. Soooo, you get 2-3 months in, flowering, adding that heavy bloom booster, and then the MG nutes really start dissolving. slowly but surely you'd get unpreventable nute burn.

ultimately, mg sucks, because you CANNOT remove their 'additives' and thus, are always borderline burning them if you add ANY nutes in addition to what they aready add (that can't be taken out).

if common sense was to come into play, you wouldn't feed your plants until they needed some nutes avoiding over fertilizing and burning your girls. just a thought?
