My pineapple chunk ...DIY Wick System .. who knows ??

Well I'm off with a new grow for the new year ... popped 3 pineapple chunk from Barney's farm on Jan 1st. Using the wet paper towel method, all 3 cracked on Jan 3rd and were planted in 8oz cups with just promix-bx. Watered with distilled water and supethrive for the first 14 days.

Now I don't know how you guys do it, but i don't consider veging till after the first 14 days. So when i transplant at 14 days i count that as the first day of veg. I transplanted into 1 ltr pots and started watering with liquid Karma, pureblend pro (grow for soiless) , cal/mag plus and a drop of superthrive.

wish i could have takein pics of them earlier but i'm old and forgot lol anyways here are the 3 girls at 2 weeks in veg (27 days from seed )
jan27side.jpgjan27top.jpg

I have them under a 4light T5 , the veg box is covered in mylar and i have a couple of led panes for sidelighting

All the plants are bottom fed because they will be transplanted to the wick system .. just my experience they seem to grow a little beter if they were bottom fed from seedlings?

I use distilled water i guess for piece of mind .. i know whats in it lol

Always have used PureBlend pro as my veg fert, but i found that the bloom is somewhat lacking and you need way to many additives so with all thats out there now i might try something new for flower ..

any comments / suggestions welcome

I just thought I would update and add a couple of pics. It's been 5 days and they have grown a fair bit , will be ready to put into the wick buckets in a day or so.

Well the transplant into the wick buckets went well. They seem to be filling out nicely.

These were taken on feb 3 ... 34 days from seed .. 3 weeks into the veg lighting cycle

When I transplanted they went in my secret jardin drII 90 tent under a 430W sonogro light, inside a 6in cool tube vented seperately from my carbon filter , which is mounted in the top corner of my tent.

Temps are 75 -79 lights on , 65-70 lights off. I also have a inline fan on my lowest vent blowing some fresh air into the tent.

My wick buckets are just kitty litter pails , stacked , with a net pot in the bottom of the upper pail. It is filled by way of a pipe into the bottom pail which acts as a small rez.

I add 1 liter of chunky vermiculite to the bottom of the top pail, enough to fill the netpot and bottom of pail, which acts as my wick. Then i add 5 liters of promix-bx soil on top of the vermiculite, when i transplant.

Looks like you got a good pheno...most of mine are very sativa dominant... I wish I had yours... I have done 6 rounds so far and got rid of the really sativa dominant moms... Yeilds are pretty nice and the smell is awsome, but here in Cali people are not too hot on this flavor.... everyone likes the OG's

@LMU thanks , hopefully I can keep them healthy till they finish

@donutpunched know what you mean about the OG's, seems a lot of people like it .. but this PC does have an amazing smell since they sprouted, will be fun watching it grow

Well just thought I'd post a few update pics, its been a few days and they seem to be bushing out well with the light timing I use, stems are thickening up nicely too, need sturdy branches lol

Still using pureblend pro for soiless, calmag+ and liquid karma for my ferz, in distilled water Ph'd to 6.2 and am bumping the nutes up gradually to the recomended dose.

may have to lower them from the light in a day or so, have lots of height so I think I will veg them another 3 maybe 4 weeks then flip to my flower light schedual

I am debating if i should trim off the bottom 2 branches on my girls, the tallest one is 21" (50cm) with 12 branch sites, and the other 2 are around 17" (43cm) with 10 branch sites. Trimming the bottom 2 sets of branches will open up the bottom for more air flow and allow for easier watering. I am impressed with the growth of PC, seems more robust then the bubblicious i grew last time. The lime green color of the leaves has been getting darker as they age, right now they are at 5 weeks from seed, I am tempted to switch to the flower cycle but my give them another week to veg a bit more .... pics to come later

Well here are some pics, as you can see the sides are filling in nicely .. which makes me think i may have to cut a couple of branches off... any ideas? A few leaves have burnt tips and a couple have twists, but I'm pretty sure it was becasue i didn't get them moved away from the light as quick as i should have ( I like keeping it as close as possible).

I even stuck in a pic showing the big green cotyledons that are still filling out at 5 weeks from seed , to the stem sides show the preflowers too ...

LIke i said any helpful comments wanted

i always take all branches from bottom of plant so that the bottom 6-9 inches is all stem, when flowering them bottom branches produce very little because of lack of light penertration so there using up valuable energy that is better used on the tops.

She looks very robust in deed man!

I'd say cut off anything that is not getting any light under there....

The knots this plant is forming where she branches out......wow that's scary :D
