It's actually really simple. The kid feels like a girl and it's well studied that trying to convince someone otherwise really fucks them up, much more so than simply living life as a girl. Neither path are easy, but one of them has much higher rates of suicide and other severe negatives. I don't think you understand that with the position they're in, there are only difficult choices and they're choosing the one that keep their kid sane. Sure, it makes the rednecks go insane, but those rednecks and their parents can deal with it.

In no way did I validate you. You are just in denial of your irresponsibility as a parent and cannot yet face up to it. Your family disagrees. You've probably alienated other people who you are close to because they disagree. I love these idiots. Reminds me of a fellow manager that I recently had a conversation with about all these companies that are going on record against the Georgia voting laws. He bemoaned their actions and said he just couldn't understand why they would do it - what do they have to gain?

They are just clueless that they are on the wrong side of history.

Anything a kid thinks at age 6, is fluid. Nobody cares when a mature teenager or young adult decides which way to swing....not age 6.

It's your own creation in your mind that causes you to think they don't know that. I don't even need to has him, that if his kid wanted to return to a boy, would they be anything but supportive.
