The vast majority of current cannabis growers and dealers will be forced out of business by legalization. That's all I'm saying. A small number will make ends meet, a handful will thrive, but almost all of the profit to be made in weed will be in the hands of a few large corporate enterprises--presently non-existent--that will come to dominate the industry.
Again, the beer comparison is completely flawed. Beer is legal and there is no artificial supply constraint. Small players started and are starting with a "real" price of beer to base their operations around. The present price of marijuana reflects the existence of an artificial supply constraint that depresses investment in productive capacity. This leaves present producers to enjoy all of the excess profit. Without the artificial constraint, new productive capacity will suck the profit out of existing operations, and that is what will force them out of business.
