"Purity tests"

On the notion of "purity tests", the only thing voters are requiring candidates be "pure" on is corruption

Accepting money from special interests creates, at the very least, the appearance of a conflict of interest

Imo, I think if the Democratic party committed to only accepting individual donations and collectively refused big dollar donors and Super PACs funded by billionaires, they would gain a huge amount of support from voters. In the black and white world of politics, you could show by action one party represents the people and the other party represents corporations, and I think that would have a big impact in the result of elections.

Bernie doesn't pass your purity test.

The New York Times reported in October 2015: “Mr. Sanders was cheered at a fancy campaign fund-raiser at the Hollywood home of Syd Leibovitch, a high-end real estate agent, and his wife, Linda, on Wednesday night. Tickets for the event sold for a minimum of $250. Those who spent the maximum, $2,700, or who raised $10,000, were invited to a ‘pre-event reception,’ according to the invitation.”

aides estimated about $150,000 would be raised from roughly 300 people there.

Time magazine reported in December 2015: “Sanders has hosted at least nine medium- to high-dollar, closed-door fundraisers in New York, Los Angeles and elsewhere to directly fund his own presidential campaign. Even though Sanders’ efforts sometimes have a proletarian flair — he held one $200-per-ticket fundraiser at a dive bar near a grungy Seattle park — some aspects of the Democratic insurgent’s fundraising are similar to the candidates he condemns.”

He didn't even stray out affluent areas during his 2016 campaign.

You should focus on the subject of this thread; the appearance of corruption

How does accepting legal bribes from corporations give off any other impression but corruption?

We see clearly how corporations/special interests bribe Republicans by way of the NRA, PACs against climate change and environmental regulations. It would seem absurd to rational thinking individuals that the Democratic party doesn't serve their big donors in the same way. At this point, most voters consider it pretty offensive to fail to recognize and address this issue when it comes to candidates vying for political office.

Maybe you'd be happier in another country.

How's Trump's judicial appointments working out for you? Think Hillary would have put in right wing drunken dry humpers?

Hey Trumptard! How's it going?

@realDonaldTrump
“In America, if you hate our Country, you are free to leave. The simple fact of the matter is, the four Congresswomen think that America is wicked in its origins, they think that America is even more wicked now, that we are all racist and evil. They’re entitled to their opinion, they’re Americans. Now I’m entitled to my opinion, & I just think they’re left wing cranks. They’re the reason there are directions on a shampoo bottle, & we should ignore them."

Trump is exactly like you. That's the reason you hate him so much. He reminds you of how you feel inside, but have a filter, that he lacks, which is some from of Tourette's. The only difference is his personal convictions aren't the same as yours, but why would they be, no two people are alike. While you're afraid to speak what's on your mind, he doesn't. That's what scares you.

The angrier you get, the more those filters go down and you speak what's really on your mind, and you begin to sound exactly like Trump.

Says the nazi boy who went on for days about how I should renounce to avoid Bernie's tax hikes. You sure are stupid. We knew that though, since stupidity and racism are correlated.

I am content with the current purity test that should be adhered to, not breaking American laws to gain their office.
