"The Scientific Revolution established science as a source for the growth of knowledge. During the 19th century, the practice of science became professionalized and institutionalized in ways that continued through the 20th century. As the role of scientific knowledge grew in society, it became incorporated with many aspects of the functioning of nation-states.

The history of science is marked by a chain of advances in technology and knowledge that have always complemented each other. Technological innovations bring about new discoveries and are bred by other discoveries, which inspire new possibilities and approaches to longstanding science issues."

"The scientific revolution was the emergence of modern science during the early modern period, when developments in mathematics, physics, astronomy, biology (including human anatomy) and chemistry transformed views of society and nature."

"In history, the early modern period of modern history follows the late Middle Ages of the post-classical era. Although the chronological limits of the period are open to debate, the timeframe spans the period after the late portion of the post-classical age (c. 1500), known as the Middle Ages, through the beginning of the Age of Revolutions (c. 1800)"

No they wouldn't.

"In argumentation theory, an argumentum ad populum (Latin for "appeal to the people") is a fallacious argument that concludes a proposition to be true because many or most people believe it. In other words, the basic idea of the argument is: "If many believe so, it is so."

The proposition of anthropogenic climate change does not conclude to be true because many or most people believe in it. It's true regardless of if people believe in it. So that's only like the exact opposite of a what you said..

I'm sure it would look that way to someone who doesn't understand how science works
Your contention that anyone disbelieving "consensus" doesn't understand science is an example of religious fervor and superstition. Explain to us again how "theory" is "above" fact. There's a reason you don't earn much.

No, they didn't, and you can't produce a single credible scientific report, study, journal, publication, anything.. that says they did.

All you have are politically and financially biased individuals and organizations who are compensated to dispel misinformation and propaganda to advance their goals

Anything that goes against what you believe is dismissed. You are the exact definition of a climate change denialist. There is literally nothing you would accept as evidence of anthropogenic climate change.

You and the fraction of a percentage of the population like you are an embarrassment to the rest of us

he aint ignorant, he is self-deluded.

he has wrapped up so much of his own self-worth in the global warming hysteria that when it fails (as it must) he will be psychologically and emotionally crushed.

it's rather like the Helsinki Syndrome, or Battered Wife Syndrome.
His real life is a joke. He thinks $900 a month is high pay, something he has been unable to attain. So he comes here an tries to pretend he smarter than everyone else. He is desperate in his delusions.

Ninety-seven percent of climate scientists agree that climate-warming trends over the past century are very likely due to human activities,1and most of the leading scientific organizations worldwide have issued public statements endorsing this position. The following is a partial list of these organizations, along with links to their published statements and a selection of related resources.

AMERICAN SCIENTIFIC SOCIETIES

Statement on climate change from 18 scientific associations

"Observations throughout the world make it clear that climate change is occurring, and rigorous scientific research demonstrates that the greenhouse gases emitted by human activities are the primary driver." (2009)

American Association for the Advancement of Science
"The scientific evidence is clear: global climate change caused by human activities is occurring now, and it is a growing threat to society." (2006)

American Chemical Society
"Comprehensive scientific assessments of our current and potential future climates clearly indicate that climate change is real, largely attributable to emissions from human activities, and potentially a very serious problem." (2004)

American Geophysical Union
"Human‐induced climate change requires urgent action. Humanity is the major influence on the global climate change observed over the past 50 years. Rapid societal responses can significantly lessen negative outcomes." (Adopted 2003, revised and reaffirmed 2007, 2012, 2013)

American Medical Association
"Our AMA ... supports the findings of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change’s fourth assessment report and concurs with the scientific consensus that the Earth is undergoing adverse global climate change and that anthropogenic contributions are significant." (2013)

American Meteorological Society
"It is clear from extensive scientific evidence that the dominant cause of the rapid change in climate of the past half century is human-induced increases in the amount of atmospheric greenhouse gases, including carbon dioxide (CO2), chlorofluorocarbons, methane, and nitrous oxide." (2012)

American Physical Society
"The evidence is incontrovertible: Global warming is occurring. If no mitigating actions are taken, significant disruptions in the Earth’s physical and ecological systems, social systems, security and human health are likely to occur. We must reduce emissions of greenhouse gases beginning now." (2007)

The Geological Society of America
"The Geological Society of America (GSA) concurs with assessments by the National Academies of Science (2005), the National Research Council (2006), and the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC, 2007) that global climate has warmed and that human activities (mainly greenhouse‐gas emissions) account for most of the warming since the middle 1900s." (2006; revised 2010)

SCIENCE ACADEMIES

International academies: Joint statement

"Climate change is real. There will always be uncertainty in understanding a system as complex as the world’s climate. However there is now strong evidence that significant global warming is occurring. The evidence comes from direct measurements of rising surface air temperatures and subsurface ocean temperatures and from phenomena such as increases in average global sea levels, retreating glaciers, and changes to many physical and biological systems. It is likely that most of the warming in recent decades can be attributed to human activities (IPCC 2001)." (2005, 11 international science academies)

U.S. GOVERNMENT AGENCIES

U.S. Global Change Research Program
"The global warming of the past 50 years is due primarily to human-induced increases in heat-trapping gases. Human 'fingerprints' also have been identified in many other aspects of the climate system, including changes in ocean heat content, precipitation, atmospheric moisture, and Arctic sea ice." (2009, 13 U.S. government departments and agencies)

INTERGOVERNMENTAL BODIES

Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change
“Warming of the climate system is unequivocal, as is now evident from observations of increases in global average air and ocean temperatures, widespread melting of snow and ice, and rising global average sea level.”13

“Most of the observed increase in global average temperatures since the mid-20th century is very likely* due to the observed increase in anthropogenic greenhouse gas concentrations.”14

*IPCC defines ‘very likely’ as greater than 90 percent probability of occurrence.
Your very first statement is a lie. Citing a bunch of entities whose survival depends on continuing the fraud being foisted on us does nothing to support your statements

Yeah, I guess the worlds scientists just forgot to factor that in when they came up with those models everyone agrees with..

Idk man, I just don't know..

You ever thought of becoming an expert on climate change? The shit you know!? You should be advising the IPCC, damn!
You mean those models that that have been consistently wrong?

Science changes when new data is collected, that's how it works, deal with it, you scientifically illiterate crackpot

Furthermore, quote the IPCC report that says that

Like I've told you dozens of times by now, you don't understand how science works, so why would anyone expect you to understand the implications of +1*C, 2*C, 15*C...?

You bitch and cry about the economic armageddon that will inevitably befall the .001% of earners when we switch to different energy sources while simultaneously ignore the economic impact predicted environmental conditions will cause in the future, hundreds of magnitudes greater.

You're a fucking dumbass, plain and simple. It's why people like you don't make the big boy decisions
Since it's your dream to one day make $900 a month (unattainable so far), I seriously doubt anyone lets you make any decisions.

Take a glass of water and fill it to overflowing with ice.

Fill the rest of the glass to the top with water.

Let sit until the ice has melted.

Now that the level of the water in the glass is lower than the level you started with, please explain to the class how melting ice can create more volume....

Put that in your science pipe and smoke it...
If the ice isn't displacing water to begin with, it will add to the volume.

Take a glass of water and fill it to the brim with water then hang an ice cube above the glass, and let it melt.

Please explain to the class what happens....

Think first, then speak. Sea ice =/= land ice.

Is it your contention then that absolutely no ice is in the water at the poles?? You know, that Icebergs do not actually exist??

What is laughably funny is that the ice at the other pole has grown substantially and the scientists cannot for the life of them figure out why...

Why would you think that's my conclusion based on what I said? lol Seriously?

Sea ice has been tracked extensively, so has land ice. It's the land ice at the south pole that is causing great concern. That's where the 15ft rise in sea level will come from.

So, like the people who do not have the common sense to move 15' higher will drown and die? This is sounding better and better all the time...

If sea levels rose by 15 feet, do you really think that's the only thing that would happen? That the cause for alarm is to avoid drowning?

Are.. are you serious?

Sure people do. People don't want to drown.

It's not easy to move entire cities though. Where should the people of Holland go exactly? Who pays for the infrastructure relocation?

he is correct.

floating sea ice does not raise water levels when it melts, but landborne ice can does and will raise sea levels when it melts and flows to the sea.

much of the antarctic ice sheet is suspended in water, but theres quite a bit that rests it's weight on land, in addition to the various glaciers found around the world.

past warming (minoan warm period, roman warm period, and medieval warm period) each raised sea levels significantly, while major glacial periods lower sea level.

at one point, eurasia and north america were connected by land, as was britain (to europe, not america)

IF sea levels rose 2000 feet, would we all start living on Aquadromes, and grow gills?
