Good point alan, for some reason it had never occurred to me to do that. I must still be food 'drunk' from Thanksgiving. So yea, I'll throw half in the flower room at 9am, that'll give them 36 hours of darkness before the lights come on Monday night.

CRAPPY UPDATE

So I go downstairs to check on the babes before the flip tomorrow and I find this sorry looking sum'bitch:

P1030228.jpg

It was fine a day ago. I gave it a good flush and hoping that it rebounds quickly. Shit always happens when you least expect it. The last feeding for this plant was 2 days ago with 1.5tsp of Grow Big. I noticed the leaves are a dark green, wondering if its a N toxicity? Any ideas?

High temperatures at all? Could just be that your girl is sucking up water so quickly that she wants some more this soon. My guess at least.

They were watered about 2 days ago and showed no signs of this yesterday. Whatever is going on happened in less than a day. My temps, humidity, and pH all check out. I'm bummed because this crap is happening right before the planned flip.

I think you hit the nail on the head! I just checked on her and she's perked back up. I guess in my newbie ignorance I didn't realize how fast some plants can drink.

Yea, I'm heading over to the hydro store tomorrow so I'll get one while I'm there. I'm hoping the plants I've already put into darkness won't be the same way. Is it ok to pull them out of the 36hr darkness just to check on them and water if needed or will this cause stress on them? I'm flipping at 9pm tonight, so should I just wait?

Thats how you learn, good job catching it in time! She was definitely thirsty, I underwatered my KK 1 time while she was vegging and she looked rough!!! Way worse than yours just did, lost a few fan leaves but made a full recovery and now you see what she looks like :)

The point to this is, you really don't "need" a moisture meter just learn how to read your plants. Don't get me wrong if you have the money and want to get one it wouldn't hurt, its just something that you can do without...

SD just make sure when you do get one you get a really good one. i payed 39 bucks for a really cheap moisture meter and regreted it. so yea check to see if they have didgtal ones.peace

I'm about to head out in a little bit to pick up some last minute supplies before the flip tonight. So fuggin' excited for this!! O, flowering time isn't counted from the time you switch to 12/12, but rather when they actually start to flower, correct?

Correct, first sighn of pistils and the party has begun :)
Thats debatable. Flowering actually starts the day the light cycle is changed to a flowering photoperiod, correct? ok so you can start counting the weeks when you change to a flowering photoperiod. I guess a few growers might not count the first week but they probably dont use the dark period technique so their plant probably are slow a week. More than likely when you use the 36hr dark period, by the end of their first week 12/12 they already have budsites forming.

SD you did half and half right? so, you will see which plants show budsites sooner and decide if you want to count the first week. I always do. later yall, got class till 9:30

i count from day one of 12/12. theri was a thread on here that was debating this then FDD came and cleared things up with some good info. i dont know the name of it though, mabye i will look
and a moisture meter is not really needed to much it helps but it should be easy enough to lift the pot and feel for water.

12/12 FLIP - DAY 1

I know I haven't posted a big update in a while and this is a pretty big day - so here's a pretty big update.

P1030229.jpg

This is the view from the flower room looking towards the 'door' to the veg room. You can see the light leak between the 2x2 and wall.

P1030247.jpgP1030248.jpg

I picked up some spray foam insulation and had at it. Voila, no more light leak.

P1030230.jpgP1030231.jpg
P1030232.jpgP1030233.jpg

I'm going to leave these two to veg for another 2-3 weeks. It'll give them a chance to beef up a little.

P1030234.jpgP1030235.jpg
P1030236.jpgP1030237.jpg
P1030238.jpgP1030239.jpg
P1030240.jpgP1030241.jpg
P1030242.jpgP1030243.jpg
P1030244.jpgP1030245.jpg

Here are the 'flowering 6'. I'm hoping for at least 3 females, we'll see in the next week or so. That Grow Big is some potent stuff, even at 1/2 strength I feel like it was too much. You can see how green the leaves are. I had some droopiness going on, I believe it was due to under watering. Oops :wall:

Overall, I think it's a nice looking bunch for a first timer. Thanks for everyones help and support

I'd be interested in the link but I'll take your word for it haha... So damn my KK is actually like 9 weeks or more into flowering then, interesting :)
