SoG Grow Room Discussion

Has anyone ever thought to use dark corn syrup? It is often used as a substitute for molasses in baking. I think it might work in aero systems depending on how often your pumps will run. So long as there isn't too much time between misting, there shouldn't be any problems with clogging. But I can't say this for certainty.

It is worth investigating. SOG, don't you have another (smaller) water pump?

If you do, you could experiment by just doing a "dry" run with some spare misters and PVC tubing. See if it clogs after extended use.

If this makes no sense...I'm on AK47 right now, I'll explain later.

i find it odd, 5mm of any substance mixed with 15 gallon will barely be noticeable
especially when broken down properly before mixing(breakdown with hot water)

how many total sprayers are you runnig. i have 12 in two 4x4'' six foot long fence posts with a 400gph pump and my spray spread looks just like yours. maybe i can go with more sprayers in my next one. im personaly taking the learn as you go aproach to SB's system. so i started with one cloner one vegg and one flower/nft. figured i would imporve on the NFT system as i had to build them. i like your set up think im going to incorporate some of your ideas into my next build. i deffinitly want to see your watering system and a parts list for it. that is the direction i want to go with my grow is a self regulating system.

here is an idea for you. im a mechanic and racer. i work alot with fuel injection. i was thinking of building a sprayer system that incorporates a low presure air along with low presure water to better atomize the water and nutes as they are being delivered to the roots. so it would give you the benifits of a fogger sprayer and NFT system all in one. basicly thinking of building an areo system designed off the orbital fuel injection system that uses high presure air along with high presure fuel to create 100% atomization. i think im going to give it a try when i have free time i should have the parts laying around i would only have to buy a air valve sylinoid.

hey sog
just bought enough stuff to make 4 stink systems (flower) and one veg (tough box) (and fit it all in my honda civic....lol :) )
question is.........
im putting 2 systems in each 4x4x7 tent.........(the posts are 49 inch long and 4.75 inch wide) would it be better to go with 4 plants on each post giving me 16 total plants per tent under a 600 hps.......i think i can grow them up to 40 inches tall and maybe i can produce an ounce each......or go with 6 on each post for 24 total and they will be more crouded.........might go with 10 sprayers each post anyway.......

i think it also has to do with how long your piping is etc...
you can definitely try to run more then 12 safely
in the pictures I'm pushing 396GPH across 24 misters

your idea sound very interesting, keep us posted

you might be better off with tailoring the system to your tent sizes
don't limit yourself to the current design, think outside the box
utilize the concept to maximize your grow space usage

how wide is the standard stink flowering system?.......fitting 2 in a 4 foot wide tent should be a problem?

i bought a 4.75 inch wide by 98 inch long for 22$ while the 4 inch wide by 98 inch long is 24 dollars....figured 20% more room for roots for less money was worth it

I have a homebox xl and a similar setup.

i heard of an interesting Tip today
flush plants with plain water and 5mm of maple syrup
this will make the buds dank up significantly
anyone else heard of this?
Look into a product called Diamond Nectar, it is worth it's weight in gold.:weed:

the liquid karma should give the plant maximum growth and the sweet should really do what ur looking to do with the sugar...........
some people use black strap molasses but i dont think ull need it if u use stinks mix
im planning on doing 4 different nute mixes in my 4 units when i get everything going.......going to take my clones a week to root and then i should have the units together
my goal is to use 4 different mixes or brands.......same ppm........same ph......and see the difference in yield and taste and thc production

to reask an earlier question
if i grow 16 4 foot plants in a 4x4 tent (these are my widow which has a tree like look.......non sog type plant lots of side branching and very bushy)
will that be enough.....or do i need 24 plants in each tent/?.........16 and veg them longer would be easier i think

its hard for me to estimate,
i haven't run my tents with plants in them yet to give you a fair comment
here's a thought, if your tight on space you can place your res outside the tents,
use the extra space to squeeze few more plants
save room for the air to circulate
you don't want to over crowed, i think this will encourage mold

looks good but shouldnt the plastic going out be black as well as to complete darkness or does it not matter? I thought white plastic allows much more light through

black absorbs light whereas white reflects it, myself along with many others use the white fence posts or white pvc without issues.

GH uses white tubes similar to these in their aeroflo2 line - maybe a little bit thinner actually. I think that algae isn't a problem with these systems because there is so much water movement.

Also, I'd be really careful with what additives you use in your aero system. Organics (including molasses and most "flavor enhancers") tend to clog the misters quickly. A rep at General Hydro told me to avoid all of the above in my aeroflo2 system.

What cutting tool(s) are you using to get that nice sloping angle on your posts? With all your posts cut to your specs, it looks like you may be getting ready to move to the next step. Can't wait to see it all up and working. Did you decide on what seeds or cuttings you'll be starting off with?

P.S. I am seriously addicted to this thread, and go through withdrawals :spew:when a day goes by when you don't post new pic's. :?

not yet decided on which strains to start with,
it will prob be something from my local dispensary to start with

used 12" mitter saw to cut the posts to size,
and Dremel 670 Mini Saw Attachment, to cut the angles on the posts

lol, thanks for the compliment
id hate to think your in withdrawals because I'm slacking off ;)
ill try to pick it up
