lol, I already gave the guy advice, soil or hydro, both are great, choose the one that meets your needs. Both are easy to learn, both are forgiving (yes cannabis is an easy plant to grow) and both have pros and cons. Now seriously, stop using the term "hater" it's such a stupid term that has no meaning, let your mind choose your words not the other way around.

Depends. if your startin out soil most def. if you know what ur doin try it out and u might prefer it. its all to your preference. What YOU want and what YOU like. Soil for me. No matter what its really not gonna effect the plant too much it already has set genetics that cant really be altered just by grow style TOO MUCH. Try all possibilities. experiment. Have fun wit it. nothin like your own weed experiences. Happy growin.

For what? To set up what kind of system? My first aero sytem was about $2,000 my latest hydro system was $20.
 
I think a lot of people are actually really confused about what hydro is, they are convinced that you need pumps for hydro. There is passive hydro (no electricity outside of your lights and such) and active hydro (pumps timers and shit). Of course it costs more money to setup active but passive hydro systems are dirt cheap, even a dwc is pretty cheap.

I use sand and a lot of organic growers do too along with perlite and cocoa husks.

What about pure cocoa husks with some micro organisms and worm castings and such some do that too and get crazy results.

Would you?

Yes, one box which I usually fill with 6 plants. 2 week veg 55 day strains on average at the end of the grow the roots come out in a box shape, they fill the containers. If I was going to veg for a long time I would probably choose to use bigger individual containers.
 
Its good for gettin air into your soil and loosing it up so ur roots can grow faster. Faster growing roots faster growing plant.

I would love to try coco but the price is still very expensive here in Japan and I like to reuse my medium because of security concerns with dumping out 40 plus liters per month in Tokyo. I choose the perlite because you can use it for years.

i find from this hobby that there is many ways to do the same thing
this site is supposed to be to help yet many bashers amny on the attack and trashers
and there are many inflateg egos and many know it alls many think ther way is the best way and the only way and will attack like a pit bull terrior

just worry about your shit and its needs not everyone elses unless you know their complete setup you can only help yourself and if you want to think your shit is the best go ahead think it wit my blessings
 
The facts are, hydro is cheaper, less maintenance, and if your good at electrical and have the handyman touch you only have to tend your op every five to seven days. If I get locked up my op will stand for twenty one days before shit starts going wrong because I still have to exchange the water for my moms. My budders will go on because their system empties, fills and tops up without me there. They just won't get any ferts if I don't show up. I have been using the same lava rock and pea gravel for years. I can grow with a bucket of maracle grow, domolite lime and wood ashes to get perfect results everytime. I haven't yet but I'm considering a couple car batteries and an inverter to run my pumps and the small computer fans I use for air circulation in my op. In the past ten years I have only had one failed pump and I got there in time to fix it, really lucky day. When I go to add ferts and balance the water I do a complete system check. My system was originally designed for 3000w but I cut back to 1000w because a lb a month is more than enough for me.
 
Just wrapping up my first grow...was gonna do dirt I guess due to a lack of understansting and a fear of water jajaja......glad i went hydro...you will be more involved but that will help the results.....get hydro...get busy learning about it....grow some killer danK!

Where r these facts? And dude. where has it been growin for like the last FOREVER? In the ground. Ur right about everything you said except The cheaper and less maintenance. just the fact that you could throw some seeds outside in some loose soil, do nothing to them, and have pot by doing nothing but simply walking outside and a flick of the wrist. just sayin.

Hempy is kind of a hybrid between soil and hydro. Closer to soilless than anything really. I was doing what people call "hempy" before there was a name for it. I've got experience with both and IMO soil is easier. Not saying that hempy isn't easy, I just find soil to be EASIER. It's all about personal preferrence really. I've seen growers that on their first grow built a high pressure aero set up and had amazing success with it on their FIRST grow! I've also seen people who have tried their hand at growing in soil numerous times and couldn't seem to make it work. For anybody to say that one is absolutely easier than the other is kind of closed off and just doesn't make much sense. What's easier for me may not be easier for the next guy and so on. If hydro is easier for you, great! If soil is easier, then that's cool too. It's all about finding what works best for YOU. My advice for anybody starting out is to go soil or soilless first. Yes, you can make hydro work but there are far more success stories with people starting out on soil first. Happy growing everybody and Merry Christmas!:weed:
