Still cannot get roots with aerocloner.

Not healthy roots. Add a little hydrogen peroxide to water.
Agreed, they look brown and sluggish.

I set my aero tank to ph 5.5 with quarter strength rhizotonic and a small bit of veg A and B to about EC 0.5. My tap water is 0.3-0.4.

I have a RO machine and I wouldn't use it for a 40 site aero cloner.

I've got a load rooting right now with long bright white roots. They don't like it too cold either.

I never turn the pump off. Some like to use timers but what's the point if moving water is oxygenated?

With clones I highly recommend using tap water. Change it every 3 days. if you want to get fancy and to save water you can a bit of chlorine added every 3 days. I use a diluted pool shock every 3 days till roots. Whenever you get slime, run baking soda tap water through it. it won't hurt the plants. After running for 10 minutes or so switch back to straight tap. No need to chlorinate fresh tap;). When you get roots, you can have fun and start feeding.

I just planted #15 from a 12 site cloner I've been running for 3 1/2 weeks. I've been throwing in clones at different times due to different tests I'm running on clones from flowering plants. I filled it 3 1/2 weeks ago w/tap water which is high in chlorine, haven't changed the water since. It runs on an NFT timer 1 min on/4 min off, but I've run it 24/7 as well with more or less the same results. I usually scrape the alt 1/2 inch but not always. They always root, I'm now selective about which clones I keep it's so reliable. Point being, you can do just about anything and get roots with an aero cloner. There's something else wrong here, unlikely the water unless you're dumping acid in there. Temps too low or high? (although I've rooted them anywhere between 65-80F) Maybe the sprayers are clogged? Have you run the cloner with the top off to check the spray is reaching/spraying them?

Here is the cloner I have. No clogs. Water shoots out the top with out the neoprene inserts. I did add acid in the form of ph down, since I thought clones needed to be phed to 5.5. I think temps too high and too low. There was some slime forming when I dumped out the water. I am going to try my tap water, and the hydrogen peroxide. Pump on 24. If temps go about 74 I will get one of those timers, so hopefully I can regulate the water temp with the pump.

Good luck!!! Still think the timer on 24/7 is a bad idea but hopefully everything works out for ya ha no the ol sayin sometimes less is more .

And I get a lot of conflicting info when it comes to cloning. One person says leave the pump on 24/7, one says 1 minute on 8 off. My temps are dipping dyring lights out. Should I be running nonstop lights on? I am doing 18/6 and water temps dip at lights out. I might be able to stabilize my temps with 24 hours of lighting. Also it doesnt seem like the pump needs to be running nonstop. When I did 30 minutes on 30 off, the steps are always still soaking wet after 30 minutes off.
You gotta see that once you snip that cutting that cutting becomes a plant in its own right, missing the roots yeah? ..so you gotta keep it alive until it grows some
hence for me anyways bubbling 02, 24/7 for 10 days at a warm temp of 22c/75f?
works great, I do leave a small cfl on 24/7, as the photosynthetic motor in the plant ain't doing much but just ticking over, not one of the noobs above had the guts to explain why use 02 in the first place but that riu for you...

can you explain
why ..?
Well if ya take a five gallon bucket and put a pump in it 2/3 full your water is easily going to reach 80 degrees , anthor is my father in law had a five gallon bucket setup like that and ran pump 24/7 and had ok success . And then he switched to a 15 gallon tote with pump on 24:7 and had better success but ever scents he switched to a timed 1 on 5 off he has had 100 success witch lead me to duplicating it and I've had 100 percent success. On my first try without doing nothing but dumping RO water and putting the cuttings in the cloner no h202 no oh adjustment none of that shit so just the heat issue in the water and that I seen the bucket deal not really work out that well on a 24:7 timer just giving him my opinion hope his clones root for and everything goes well

And why use h2o2 if us don't need to why use clonex if ya don't need to why adjust ph if ya don't need to why waste electricity on running pump 24/7 if ya don't need to ?? It's the same thing as running 600 watt light on a cloner why waste if ya don't need to just my 2 cents tho everyone has there way of doing things if we all did thing the same the world would be boring and plain .

Um that's a big dwc cloner he is talking about a areo cloner and I never said a air pump was a bad idea with a air stone on I said leaving a head pump inside your Rez running 24/7 was a bad idea

you are teasing out roots from just under the bark,...its called the cambium layer, stimulating those fine cells, with oxygen and water, and the right temp those cells explode, the plant needs a small amount of light to make the energy to create these rootlets, from carbohydrates already in that stem, the plant has very little food on-board, and there is very little way of getting it other than a squirt by foilar every 2-3 days, of kelp juice, even your pee is good, 1tsp per gallon

good luck, and think this out

Think it out? I better do that before I get stoned. Thanks again everyone for your cloning experience. I have another run of clones going in the aero and in rockwool. The clones that looked rough that I took from the cloner and put in promix peat base have all rooted, a couple seem to have nothing left to give now that they burst roots. Hopefully I get them in the cloner this time. I have my cloner on 24/7 since last night and just checked it. Im at 79f, right now the best I can do is 30 on and 30 off until I get another timer. I am going to have a little more time over the next couple weeks to monitor things. I work full time and then some, I barely have time to check up on all of you.

I have a 8 site 5gal bucket aerocloner. I have tried twice and still not getting roots after two weeks. I use ro water, with the appropriate dose of clonex. I used a timer so the pump is not on 24/7, set to 30on 30 off. I am damn close because most of the clones have roots starting to form but just wont burst out like I am seeing others results. I took this batch out and put them in promix to finish rooting, which always seems to work after the clones have been in the aerocloner for over two weeks. Idont have a ph pen, I use the drops and ph the water to about 6.0 and it always rises after a day or two, to about 8.0. I adjusted it twice this time. I have heard to use tap water but my tap water is about 8.5 (with the test drops). Also started monitoring water temp and it goes from 68 to 75, I tried addinga heater to raise it a bit to about 78, not sure if that helped. Any help would be appreciated, I tried to explain as best I can, what exactly I am doing. I have been succesful everytime with the clones but failed to get the roots in the cloning machine, resulting in a much longer time for clones to root. About a month before I can start vegging them. I have been successful with rockwool rooting clones. My first batch of clones in my aerocloner that did not root, got moved to rockwool and rooted within 2 more weeks. Oh yea and lighting is t-8s 6000k and some 3000k white led.
You need a timer that runs about 30-60 seconds on, 5 minutes off. 30 minutes off is way too long. I use cloning gel. Plain tap water, don't even bother to test pH. Cutting selection is important. Keep it in 74F (room temperature) Nearly any white light is sufficient. The "woodier" the cutting, the long it takes to root. Up to 4 weeks. Best cuttings still take at least 2 weeks to get to plantable size. Run the light 16-18 hours on, 6-8 hours off. This has given me nearly 100% success.

Hey mate how is your cloning going? I just thought i'd share my setup which I have nearly 100% survival rate and great speed. I am quiet happy with the results. It is basically a DIY ripoff of the ez cloner. Cost me less than 50$ in total materials. Neoprene collars, netpots, ez clone replacment misters, and submersible aquarium pump all easily found on ebay. The clones below in the picture were taken 6 days ago and as you can see nice and healthy root growth. I have noticed some strains clone much easier than others but average is still 7 days. These require no foliar misting and you can leave alot of fan leaves on and they wont transpire to much which is great for when they go back outdoors. As I grow mainly outdoors my cuttings never leave the sun from mum to aerocloner back to the ground so I have elimanted the need to "sun harden" them which also increases the speed at which they are cloned. After much experimenting 15minutes on and 30minutes off seems to work the best for me. I also just use rainwater and add alittle "seed and propagation solution" to the water. This is basically just a weak fertilizer, I still use clone-ex to dip the stems in as usual.

After that the clones will go into a seedling mix in small pots, within another 4 days roots are already showing signs of growth and extruding the bottom of the pot indicating they are ready to go into the ground. So 10 days total from cutting to back into the ground next to mum. :D :D And always remember to inoculate your seedlings as you transplant to ensure direct root contact!

# Note, I forgot to mention, In my opinion, I would not recommend running your pump 24/7, from my experience this always results in failure. Roots need oxygen just as much as water to survive so a good mixture between the both is optimal. 15mins on 15 off also works well.

Just woundering how your clones have been doing ???

Been super busy. And not where I would like to be busy. My deep purple clones, I put in rockwool and are doing great, only 7 days from cutting, no dome, and should see roots in only another couple days. As far as the aerocloner, I took a batch of clones from another strain just before they were switched to flower since i really need the deep purple for further cloning. Anyways, I cant find a timer in the store that isnt a 24 hour style timer. With my pump running 24/7 and tap water and less than a capful of hydrogen peroxide, I would say this run is worse than last time phing the ro water to about 5.5 and using clonex. After a week I have nothing looking like roots forming where last time I at least had bumps after a week. I think I am going to look into making a cloner with misters. This 8 site cloner takes up a lot of space for only 8 clones. And my last batch that almost had roots, rooted as soon as I put them in peat mix and already has new growth, out of the 8, 5 are rooted and showing new growth already.

I am not giving up on the aero cloning, I am going to have to finally pick up a ph meter, and might as well order the timer suggested earlier in the thread. Been too damn busy right now though, just worked then watered then got to sleep and back to work, then I got a tea brewing, then I got 2 plants hang drying, got to put in some trim time. Then got more to chop and so on and so forth. At least all this being super busy never stops me from getting to enjoy the fruits of my labor. Cmon, lets enjoy the fruits <movie quote.
