You can run the pump 24/7 if your res is big enough. With only 5 gallons you need to beconcerned about heat. Warm water is a good way to get "the funk". I use a 27 gallon storage container for my cloner and veg unit. 396GPM pump with about 10 sprayers. I've run a timer 1 on 5 off for many years but I have another system over at my buddies house that is running 24/7 with good results.

Here's a couple of tips:

PH - The reason everyone should care (or not care) about PH has to do with something called "nutrient lockout". At certain PH levels some nutrients become unavailable to the plant. Guess what, plain water doesn't have any nutrients to lock out. I set my PH to 5.8 when I fill it and then never check it again.

Light Cycle - You can run anything from 18/6 to 24/7. I usually start my cuttings at 24/7 under HO fluorescent, then move them under the MH veg light at 18/6. Check this out...if you run your plants 24/7 the whole way through veg they take longer to start flowering. When you run the lights 24/7 it takes around 3 weeks for the flowers to really kick in. When you go 18/6 the plants take about 2 weeks to start. Why? Hormones need to build up in the plant for flowering to start. Light keeps the hormones from building up in the plant. When you decrease the light the flowering hormones start to increase. Once the hormones reach a certain level it's like hitting the light switch and the plants start to flower. Of course you could write a book on the subject!

PPM - Check your water's PPM. If it's above 200 PPM then you might want to think about RO water. I've seen water in California 900+ PPM! A little calcium won't hurt the plants though. I always tell my plants, "If you want nutes, pop some fucking roots!" It works every time.

Here are my cloner plans. Hope this helps bro.

Well I'm probably the least experience on thread and I also had cloning issue I've cut at least 200+ clones lol and I unfortunately have had a half a harvest you can say.. like a ounce and a half off 4 plant's.. I'm not gonna give you any advice because I don't even know my own shit yet.. but what I will suggest and you may take it how you want but if your building a system stick to a design or type of system!!! My dumb ass over researched all sorts of stuff which led me to spend 4-5 times a complete system I spent more time on building than growing...and kept killing plants through out the switch... I just cut my last clones and put in to aeroponic cloner that I finally purchased.. like someone told me lol and I'm still skeptical but supposed to not be rocket science but using a 300+ gov 13 360°micro sprayers 25 net pot with about 3 gallon water oh to about 5.7or so im hoping this works is this time lol I've ultimately decided to purchase all parts piece by piece to avoid wasting hundreds of more dollars.. if this is ever the only thing I can help someone with on this site please please don't try to mix and match types of systems. I had to learn he hard way I don't want anyone to feel the insanity that this project drove me to... Good luck my friend!

Got roots on one of the clones in the aerocloner, finally with just tap water and some h2o2. Also got roots from my rockwool cubes and fresh aloe. Scraping th cutting definitely helped, no rootson unscrapped clones. I have also notice how certain clones, like those with a few nodes and a top seem to root quicker.

I just cut 14 clones yesterday , they were from plants that were only feed pro grow and ca/mg cuttings were from mid plant I tried the scraping on half other half nothing just filled the rez with RO water ph was a stable 7.5 . Nothing else and timer on 1 on 5 off ill post back when my roots pop

I cut 64 at a time,all 64 root everytime..4gal r.o. water,35ml of cal-mag..cut the tips off the leaves if you don't allready(I jumped to the end.)
Simple.

I will probably be burned for heracy but do NOT use acid to bring the PH down. Leave it high 8.0 is great. It's not ideal for roots, but it stops all the nasty from rotting your base stems. Once you get roots, you can lower the PH (with mild ferts most likely), but not until then. Seriously. Stop adjusting PH of tap water people, its set up by the water company to not harbor nasties. Take advantage. Root rot loves acid, and roots don't mind (much) basic environments. Less effort is more with cloners. And remember to keep adding chlorine or switch out the water every 3 days for guaranteed no problems.

Trying it now...damn near tried everything else lol.
Just sterilize first, cut clone stem at an angle, clip leaf tips, and keep in medium light,no fan/dome etc,@70ish..
Im sure my water is warmer(submerged pump),idk the temps, ill check fri,but I've never needed to before..
I hope it works for you.last times a charm.:-D

Hey everyone! Just adding my two cents. I run a DWC style 5gal bucket system with 11 sights. I fill it up to about an inch under the cuttings. I use filtered tap water, I run a GE "under the sink" sediment filter with a quick connect for the faucet. I don't PH the water, and I add 2ml/L of Sensi-grow Part and A and B, the advanced nutrients PH perfect line. And just top off with filtered tap water till ready for transplant. In the past, I only used plain water but I had time to experiment 2 cycles ago and seemed to have roots show a few days before they did in plain water. In plain water 13-15 days to root, with the advanced nutrients 10-13 days. I just run a 30 gal aquarium air pump 24hrs and have had no problems what so ever. Oh and I have the air pump outside the tent right in front of the intake vent so it stays a little cooler then it would in the tent under the lights. Hope this helps!

Gonna have to retry this again tomorrow. ran into some timer issues, but was looking promising up to that point.
