To my understanding yes you can adjusts lights if they are dimmable panels, but no you can not make light changes otherwise. To include changing light bulbs from mh to hps, that is changing the light source. You are only allowed to change the bulb if it burns out and is replaced with the same bulb. Thats how it's always been.

I thought the mh to hps rule was changed somewhere along the line. To be fair to led that has veg and flower mode. Or what ever.

Chill out Bro's - lol
After my last pic all I did was turn on my center 3 modules. Same spectrum, just put the pedal to the floor and giving my girl everything this led panel has.
You cob boys getting nervous or something? :hump:

I was just looking for clarity on a rule as we more or less kicked someone out when they asked if they could add light, and I was unsure as it seems to me being able to turn extra lights on or changing spectrum would be the same as adding lights IMO. But if there is a standard rule used that allows some competitors to add light/change spectrum based on whether you can do it with a knob or switch on the panel, more power to you. lol. I don't see how you can stop someone from switching from mh to hps as long as they're using a single ballast, it seems like the same light to me just as much as turning on extra lights or a flowering spectrum is.

Id be more scared if any of the bigger girls that were running this comp looked healthy in the slightest lol.

I think the rule should be no spectrum change (and is the rule?)
I am running a 250W led panel. That is my light. In the beginning I handicapped myself by not turning on the whole light. I have not changes spectrum in any way.
I would be against letting swaps from MH to HPS. That is definitely changing light sources

But if you can change from veg to flowering spectrums on led how is that any different? If You had a double bulb hood attached to your ballast so You don't have to change anything but flip a switch to change from my to hps, how is that any different from flipping the flowering mode on an LED from veg?

Not arguing with the fact that you can do it just a little confused by a rule that didn't make sense when I heard it, I wouldn't care if people swapped their light source completely, lol.

The original rule of not changing light sources was most likely to keep things simple and like growing in a cup, make things not really ideal for a flowering plant. So you got shitty veg spectrum or shitty flower spectrum, take your pick.

Most of the "better" led's don't seem to have veg and flower mode options. Just intensity options.
Like cobs, one spectrum. Apache Tech, one spectrum. Alien House, one spectrum...

Hi guys,

We just need to refer to the rule:

"* Any indoor light source allowed, no changing light
sources one started (with the exception of a burnt out
bulb). No Sunlight."

It says nothing about playing with dimming options and that's makes sense to me. When we announced the type of light that we chose for the comp, we announced the max power intensity that the light source can deliver. If someone deliberately want give less light to his plants, where's the problem ?

Tell me if i'm wrong.

Peace

I wasn't saying I had a problem. I think I said the opposite lol. I was just confused by the rule when I heard someone changing their light source.

Under the circumstance that you are talking about, wouldn't swapping half of your light on with an LED panel be the same as adding more light sources? Dimming I agree with what you're saying because you're literally not changing any part of your light other than the current going to the same diodes vs a panel that shuts half of its lights off, would be more like adding more bulbs to the same setup?

I feel like it would be easier if the rule was like a single electrical outlet or something lol. But I think you should be able to swap from Mh to hps if you want if the rules allow veg vs flower mode and lights within a single panel to be shutoff.

You better win this round then so you can set the rules for the next ;)

Lol.

"Any light source throughout the entire run as long as it uses one power supply"

I didn't realize rules could be changed between comps. It's been a while since I've done one of these here I guess.

I have pix I took yesterday. I was planning on hitting wifi land today. I'm not making it, too much pain today. Will get there somehow tomorrow.

Test Update:
Test is one on the left, contestant is on the right.
m144.jpg test1.jpg
She stretched a bit, but didn't do to bad, had to move the Kassil mainly above the contestant cup, so the top part of the test didn't receive to much light, but I still got thew data I needed to decide how I'm going to move forward in the future..

Already seeing the top contenders, good looking plants..

@needsomebeans she is flushed pretty nicely, the taste will be awesome. How is she on the trichs side, many ambers already ?

@Mr black thumb Nice finish, congrats.

Peace
Thanks. I'm just glad she made it to the end. This is my first go at hydro so I don't feel to bad about her missing so many leafs. She's right there. I could have chopped her but she is still throwing white hairs.
