True HP Aero For 2011

Trichy I took a look at your list. From what I understand I need the following:

Whats a Tree Fogger got for root chamber size?...because you need a hella of lot of it to hit the "<1ml per 100L" ratio. I wouldn't go clicking buy just yet. You might end up not even using a part off that TF, or at best using it for parts, ha. Keep reading grasshopper, the first 30 pages i went through and then i got it.
Ordered my parts last week, got most of them in,.. still waiting on the JG and 10gal acc, then i get to play :hump:

Not as much as I would have liked. 7 inches Although its designed to be Aero/Fog/NFT redundant in case something fails. At least that's what I was told. :/

I would use the 6800 on the accumulator until you get news on your claim. No sense shelling out for a pump when you have one sitting there..at least for while anyway. A pressure relief valve is a good idea and you`ll need a second pressure guage to monitor the regulated pressure, it usually screws directly into the pressure regulator body. The first pressure guage will monitor the accumulator pressure.

Yeah well, if its built right, nothing fails. To plan falling back on NTF into the design, limits the hell out of your ability to actually achieve what the folks around here call true aero. And IMO root screens (silkscreen) are needed to get roots out of any standing water as well. If taps can find a pond below, they don't need to fuzz up above.

That's a bit disappointing. lol I wonder if I can retrofit some sort of silk screens for this system.

Hey guys I'm in need of some help. I bought an HPA system which I thought was going to be PNP but it's not at all. I'm used to DWC bubbler setups but decided to give HPA a shot. So here is what I have: POD, 27 gallon reservoir, Aquatec 6800 pump, everything is 1/4 inch, 26 x 1-GPH misting heads, 125 PSI line and my run from the pump is 10 feet total (8 feet of that is to the sprayers), .5 sec to 60 min on/off short cycle timer. The company I bought it from claimed that the Aquatec 6800 pump could run 15-18 of the misting heads on it's own and that's what brings me here! Atomizer suggested I come over to this thread for some help. I understand I need an accumulator tank, pressure switch and solenoid. The trouble is I have no idea what to look for as far as those three products go. A point in the right direction would be great!

Everytime I think I've kicked the habit I start reading one of these threads and start pricing out my AA setup..............fuck youz guys :)

The 27 gallon tote is just a res, and his root chamber is roughly a 4'x4'x7" by te looks of it. Hardly an adequate root zone. I hate that term "pod" as well. I never use it.

Joker toker: I would keep after those fools & get a refund. They wanna boast HP aero, they're going to have to put up with disgruntled customers who realize what the folks at treefrog don't... Their setup is missing some key components to fit the bill. I've been waiting for this moment for some time now. Surprised it took this long. :)

I don't think it's worth it at this point it costs $200 to ship each way. I'd be out $400 just from the shipping if I got a refund.

It was a bad purchase for me since I don't know much about aero and was looking for what I thought to be a PNP system. At this point I just want to get something running and once I do a couple of cycles I'll explore other options with a larger root zone.

Fawk that! I'd insist they pickup the shipping charges as well. If you're persistent enough you can get just about anything refunded. You paid 1k plus 200 shipping? Damn. Either way ya go, the people here will get ya sorted out.

About $1495 with shipping.

For the full unit, HPA kit, and 9 head fogger kit. :(

It would help if they would at least respond to a phone call or e-mail.

Sounds like they are looking for 1 shot sales to me.

If you really wanted to go all the way, the right way, you could sell it on feebay or CL for what it is. I mean it is what it is, you bought what it is, and nothing wrong with someone else having it for what it is. I mean of corse after you've exhausted all other means to get your money back. Did you pay with Paypal? If so id fight it with them for sure,.. even if it was with my CC id fight it with them too. Or better yet, if they didn't make you sign for it, say you never got it ;)

I`d push for a full refund too, but in the meantime you could add the accumulator, pressure switch, relief valve, regulator and solenoid. Use the existing cycle timer, 6800 pump and ideally replace the nozzles with some that have an anti drain feature. Seems a shame to install it in a 7" deep chamber when you`ll only be a tote (or in Mike`s case a couple of spring loaded garden bags) away from a real hp aero setup.

Yeah see this is where i keep coming back to, thats not enough of a root zone by a mile, and i personally don't click 'Buy' on the other stuff to attach it to that system. Honestly if you did the math using the <1ml per 100L formula, it'd probably tell you to use under 4 misters for the whole volume of root zone you have in that thing, and you'd never get good coverage that way. It's really only suited for NTF,.. ebb & flo,.. soakponics. Which don't get me wrong soakponics grows plants, and plants will make you your money back, just not as fast as a properly dialed in true HPA system is all.

Yeah I was told it had a 7" root zone. Well I went and measured it in 3 different places last night and the root zone is 5 inches from the top of where the net pot sits so it's really like 4 inches of usable root zone space. wow. I'm thinking I'm going to run DWC bubbler in the tree frog with the current sprayers on two pumps (7 misters each) with the 9 head fogger for a couple of runs and try to return/sell this the tree frog in the mean time and then build something that will have a proper root zone. I just recalled I have several 1/2" x 6' x 6' sheets of solid black plexiglass in storage maybe i can make a sealed box out of that. (although it would be heavy!) I'm just trying to have something that fills my 4' x 4' tent with one container.

What's the ideal depth of a root zone chamber for aero?

4" would be ok for NFT depending on how well that unit drains. A 4`x 4` chamber with 2" insulation would give you a decent amount of internal volume.
I wouldnt make it any less than 16" deep (20" overall with the insulation thickness).

Yeah, its supposed to be a combo nft/aero/fogger but I don't want to drop the extra cash and time right now to get HPA going when I won't see the full results b/c of root chamber size. Ya know? It drains well it could use a couple more drainage holes though.

Alright I was thinking of 24" of depth. The insulation is to keep the roots cool and temps otherwise stable? What's a good insulator for a project like this?

I use 2" XPS (extruded polystyrene), its cheap, strong and waterproof. Check the available headroom before you start building, most 4x4 tents over here are 6.5ft high for our typical 8ft ceilings.
