My grandfather who fought in that war would be sick if he was here to see what has become of this country.
My grandfather who i grew up with, moms side of course, was shot down over the Philippines. Captured, Bataan death marched, POW for most of the war. Spent almost a year in the VA hospital when came home and also volunteered for the Korean war. Was a DAV commander in his retired years.
A devout catholic. A Democrat.

i promise you that if he was alive he would be disgusted at what the republicans are doing to this country ;-)

Gunfire erupts after Proud Boys and anti-fascists openly brawl in Portland without police intervention
Far right groups gathered Sunday in Portland for an event they called the “Summer of Love,” even as the rally date was chosen to commemorate an extraordinarily violent clash last summer in the city. The event ended with a roving brawl along busy city streets in the Parkrose neighborhood, and shots being fired in downtown Portland. No one was reported injured in the shooting incident

Anti-fascists and far left demonstrators gathered downtown early in the day to oppose the far right gathering. The two sides eventually clashed in Northeast Portland after remaining separate for hours, leaving a spree of violence that stretched blocks.

After the violence ended in Northeast Portland, a man fired a handgun at what appeared to be a group of anti-fascists downtown. Portland police moved in and arrested 65-year-old Dennis G. Anderson of Gresham. He was charged with unlawful use of a weapon and unlawful possession of a firearm.

Trump to speak at Mar-a-Lago following expected Manhattan court appearance
Former President Trump is set to speak from his Mar-a-Lago resort on Tuesday night following an expected court appearance in Manhattan earlier the same day after a grand jury voted to indict him last week.

It is unclear if Trump will make a statement in Manhattan on Tuesday.

The former president has targeted both the prosecutor investigating him and the judge on the case, claiming the investigation is a political witch hunt.

“The Judge ‘assigned’ to my Witch Hunt Case, a ‘Case’ that has never been charged before, hates me,” Trump said in a post on his Truth Social platform on Friday. He also claimed the judge was “hand picked” by the Democratic district attorney investigating him.

Trump was indicted in connection to the investigation into alleged hush money payments that were made to Stormy Daniels ahead of the 2016 election. He is the first president, former or current, to face criminal charges.

Allies of the former president have argued that the indictment will prove to be a boon to Trump’s 2024 White House bid. Trump’s campaign was quick to jump on the news of the indictment as a fundraising opportunity, raking in over $4 million in the 24 hours after the indictment was reported.

Instead of laying low after the indictment was announced, Trump has had a vocal reaction on social media, flying in the face of what many see as the safe course of action following criminal charges.

Trump is expected to speak from Mar-a-Lago at 8:15 p.m. on Tuesday evening.

Barr: Trump should not testify in hush money case because ‘he lacks all self control’
Former Attorney General Bill Barr said former President Trump should not testify in the criminal case against him in New York because “he lacks all self control.”

“Generally, I think it’s a bad idea to go on the stand and I think it’s a particularly bad idea for Trump because he lacks all self control,” Barr said on “Fox News Sunday.” “It’d be very difficult to prepare him and keep him testifying in a prudent fashion.”

No handcuffs, no holding cell, no mug shot planned for Trump as of now

Law enforcement authorities do not plan to place Trump in handcuffs, put him into a holding cell, or take a mug shot of him when he is booked before arraignment Tuesday in a Manhattan courthouse.

But Trump will be fingerprinted, officials familiar with the planning told NBC News.
