Her Christianity matches up quite well with the religious right in this country. Gumby Christianity.

She finished her thought by explaining that she has “no ill will towards anyone, and our religion tells us to forgive, but no one tells us to reward these types of things. When we don’t act in response to these things, it is the same as encouraging them. It causes them to become increasingly more brazen.”

George Friedman Explains Why China "Secretly" Wants Russia To Lose? Chinese Economy Is Collapsing

112,665 views May 13, 2023
Geopolitical analyst George Friedman recently discussed various issues related to China, including its relationship with Russia, the United States, and Taiwan. He argued that China has made a mistake by assuming Russia has a stronger military than it does, and it could have long-term consequences for China. He also discussed China's economic problems, its vulnerability to an amphibious assault on Taiwan, and concerns about the shutdown of a crucial financial center in Shanghai. Friedman suggested that China needs to address its internal problems and be cautious in its foreign policy approach to avoid potential long-term consequences.

China does not have a great deal of experience coordinating military assets on a large scale, Russia was giving them pointers on it the last few years. At least before the Ukraine invasion. China may be having reservations on how much Russia can actually help in this regard nowadays. Ukraine's offensive will be a major tell for them.

Senate defense hawks hold up debt ceiling bill in protest of cuts, lack of Ukraine money
A group of Senate Republican defense hawks are holding up passage of legislation to raise the debt ceiling in protest of a 1-percent, across-the-board spending cut that would go into effect if Congress doesn’t pass its spending bills on time, and to pressure Senate leaders to agree to move a funding measure for the Ukraine war later this year.

Only a few hours after the debt limit deal crafted by President Biden and Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) passed the House with more than 300 votes, defense-minded Republican senators are threatening to hold up the bill to protect the Pentagon.

A Republican senator familiar with floor discussions said there are “people who are willing” to hold up the bill unless leaders commit to moving a defense supplemental later this year.

But the source added there’s “a pathway to getting this done by midnight.”

The ink on the agreement is barely dry, but some GOP senators are already looking for a way to get around the cap on defense spending — which falls well short of what they think is needed — by moving a supplemental spending bill to provide more military aid to Ukraine.

“We are exchanging language, and I certainly hope that we can get there with a commitment to bring the appropriations bills to the Senate floor, so that we’re never in a situation where we trigger the automatic 1-percent, across-the-board, indiscriminate cut,” said Sen. Susan Collins (R-Maine), the ranking member on the Appropriations Committee and the Defense Appropriations Subcommittee.

The debt limit bill would implement an across-the-board, 1-percent cut on discretionary spending if Congress fails to pass the annual spending bills by the end of the calendar year, which some Republicans worry that Democrats could use as leverage in future negotiations since many social welfare programs are funded by mandatory spending.

And while the defense budget will otherwise be capped below the rate of inflation, Collins said she and her allies also want Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) to promise to move a defense supplemental spending package to ensure continued military support for Ukraine.

“The second part would be a commitment for a defense supplemental, an emergency defense supplemental,” she said.
Collins said she wants Schumer to make these commitments in a “colloquy on the floor or a statement on the floor.”
Republican senators including Collins and Sens. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), Tom Cotton (R-Ark.) and Dan Sullivan (R-Alaska) took to the Senate floor Thursday to vent their concerns about the defense spending caps in the bill.

Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) on Wednesday called the defense caps the “worst part of the deal.”
Graham fumed that there’s “not a penny in this bill to help Ukraine defeat Putin.”

He noted that Ukrainian forces are about to launch an offensive to push back Russian troops and declared “we need to send a clear message to Putin that when it comes to your invasion of Ukraine, we’re going to support the Ukrainians to ensure your loss.”

“If we don’t do that, then we’re going to snatch defeat out of the jaws of victory,” Graham said.
Cotton said under the spending caps negotiated by Biden and McCarthy, the defense budget will grow only half as fast as the rate of inflation, “causing even more real cuts to defense.”

He also argued the 1-percent cut to penalize lawmakers for not passing spending bills on time “means defense spending will go down if the sequester kicks in.”

“If the sequester takes effect, Democrats will get more welfare spending, while defense gets cut,” he warned.
“This bill poses a mortal risk to our national security by cutting our defense budget, which I cannot support as grave dangers gather on the horizon,” Cotton declared.

They will send exchange students to WestPoint...

The smart move for their imperialist ambitions would be to go east into central Asia and the half a dozen "Stans" there including Kazakhstan most of whom have oil and NG along with other wealth, including cheap labor Their rail network is there in most places already and they can do it with soft power, it will be a win for the people there and the Chinese can do some good and build them infrastructure for oil and gas. Then when Russia breaks up, they can reclaim the pieces the Russians stole and dominate the new Eastern Siberian republics.

Tiawan is suicide at several different levels and means instant war and no trade, the US, it's NATO and allied partner navies own the global oceans, we own international trade except for North Asian continental rail and road traffic. China would be up against not Just the USA, but it's NATO partners and east Asian allies and there are plenty of them from S. Korea, Japan, the Asian tigers including Vietnam, Australia NZ & Canada. If we squared off against Russia and China, they might not do so well and China could find itself with a public as apathetic as Russia, or I'll bet North Korea in the information age. Xi ain't gonna try, he's not that dumb or powerful, the economy is on the rocks and completely dependent on trade and good relations with the global community.

‘We’re in Shebekino under Ukrainian fire’ Videos from shelled town in Russia’s Belgorod region

Belgorod Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov said Thursday morning that Shebekino was “under relentless fire.” Writing on Telegram, he reported the town was under fire from a Grad multiple launch rocket system. A dormitory building, he said, had caught on fire, and a local administration building had also been damaged by the shelling. Meanwhile, the pro-Kyiv Russian Volunteer Corps posted photos of men in camouflage posing in a partially destroyed building, with a caption “We’re working. Stay tuned!” The group did not indicate where the pictures were taken.

Chaos in Shebekino What we know about the latest raid into Russia’s Belgorod region by pro-Ukrainian militias
The Russian Volunteer Corps (RDK) and the Freedom of Russia Legion announced Thursday morning that they were conducting a new raid into Russia’s Belgorod region. The two pro-Ukrainian militia groups have carried out multiple armed incursions into Russia from Ukraine in recent months. In videos posted to Telegram, the RDK said its fighters were at the border and were approaching the “outskirts of Shebekino,” a town in the Belgorod region, while the Freedom of Russian Legion said they were also at the border and would soon enter Russian territory “to bring freedom, peace, and calm.”

The Russian Volunteer Corps posted photos with the caption “We’re working. Stay tuned for news!” that showed men in camouflage standing in a partially destroyed building, though the group didn’t indicate where the pictures were taken. Exiled former Russian lawmaker Ilya Ponomarev, who purports to represent the Freedom of Russia Legion, said the group “hit the Shebekino police building and the personnel who had gathered there with Grads.” He also claimed that fighters from the militia destroyed an armed Russian Kamaz truck and a Tyulpan mortar carrier.

The Russian Defense Ministry announced during its daily briefing that it had “foiled an invasion attempt” in the Belgorod region. According to ministry representative Igor Konashenkov, “a new attempt by the Kyiv regime to conduct a terrorist attack against the civilian population of the town of Shebekino in the Belgorod region has been thwarted.” After intense shelling, he said, Ukrainian formations “consisting of up to two motorized infantry companies and reinforced with tanks” attempted to invade Russian territory near the village of Novaya Tavolzhanka and the Shebekino border crossing. According to Konashenkov, three attacks were repelled due to the “selfless actions of Russian servicemen.” He added that about 30 pro-Ukrainian fighters were killed.

Later on Thursday, the Defense Ministry added details about the incursion and Russia’s response on its Telegram channel. The post says that at around 4 a.m., following intensive shelling, a group of around 30 people, three armored vehicles, and four pickup trucks attacked the Shebekino border checkpoint. The Russian military reportedly drove the group back in the direction of Pletenivka, on the Ukrainian side of the border, with artillery fire.
Another group of 15 “militants” reportedly tried to enter Russian territory along the eastern bank of the Siversky Donets river in the direction of Hatyshche, while 20 people tried to enter from the western bank. Part of the group from the eastern bank was blown up in a minefield, and the rest were killed by artillery fire, according to the Defense Ministry. The group from the right bank was reportedly “dispersed” in a firefight.
Between 6:05 a.m. and 6:45 a.m., “Ukrainian terrorist formations strengthened their efforts” to attempt another incursion from Pletenivka and Vovchansk, the ministry reported. As many as 70 “militants,” five tanks, four military armored vehicles, seven pickups, and Kamaz heavy-duty truck reportedly took part in the attack. The Russian side struck them with heavy flamethrowers, rockets, and artillery, after which they are said to have retreated.
“In all, more than 50 Ukrainian terrorists, four military armored vehicles, a combat vehicle with a Grad rocket launcher, and one pickup from the Ukrainian side were destroyed in the border territories,” says the Defense Ministry.

Russian Presidential Administrative Directorate building bomb shelter at Moscow hospital used by top officials
The Russian Presidential Administrative Directorate is planning to build a new bomb shelter on the territory of Moscow’s Central Clinical Hospital, according to documents that have appeared on Russia’s public procurements portal.

The project is labeled in the portal under the name “Execution of design and survey work for facility’s construction” and was added on May 26. Its initial cost is indicated as 35 million rubles ($431,350).

The documents refer to the construction of a “protective civil defense shelter” at 15 Marshal Timoshenko Street. This is also the address of the city’s Central Clinical Hospital, where many of Russia’s high-ranking officials and politicians go for medical treatment. The project is set to be finished on December 20, 2023.

The documents don’t indicate the size or capacity of the shelter, but they do provide for facilities such as operating rooms, pre-operating rooms, and dressing rooms. They also note that the facility should provide for the operation of special communication systems “for officials who are objects of state protection” and should “equip the premises of these officials with technical means of protection against leaks of classified information.”

I read a small amount of philosophy, but Hegalianism is weird, they consider everything part of a greater truth, a transcendent reality, so you are supposed to be able to reconcile all these lesser "truths" into a cohesive whole, that will encompass EVERYTHING...
I probably have that completely wrong, but that's what i remember from a 2 week unit 25 years ago.
My dad tried to name me Dialectics. Damn weird hippies, thank god he lost that battle.

So uh, I got nothing on Marxist hegelian dialectics, though I should. I just thought hegel was kinda useless and never saw anything real revolutionary in what he wrote. Point/counterpoint/synthesis as an argument form just wasn't that compelling.

Ever seen that movie, Black Sunday, with Bruce Dern? They made an explosive device covered in steel darts or something like that and exploded a small part of it at a barn for a test and it looked like the roof of that warehouse in the video. The plan was to detonate a large version installed under a Goodyear blimp and detonate it over a football stadium full of people. Was a good movie for the time.

Here's the scene.

The Netherlands is aiming to buy 96 more Leopard 1 units from the Swiss company Ruag, wrote the Swiss newspaper Tages-Anzeiger.

The Netherlands is also examining whether it can send to Ukraine more Patriot anti-aircraft missiles, or parts to operate them. Ukraine's allies urgently need to supply the country with more anti-aircraft weaponry, Prime Minister Mark Rutte said on arrival in Moldova for the summit of European leaders. Rutte said he also hopes to persuade other countries to supply Ukraine with Patriots.

Shaping operations to move Russians out of Ukraine, the Russians tried the same thing with Ukraine by faking an offensive from Belarus earlier. Drones attacking elite neighborhoods seems to cause delight among the Russians and not much outrage! Apathy is strong among the Russian population and Vlad's base of little old ladies and old farts who watch state TV are not much good for fighting. A half million fighting aged males left the country and probably 10 times that many would have left if they could have. Attacking the neighborhoods of the corrupt elites who got them into this shit won't evoke much outrage among the common folk.
