What to do? Small grow area

after 7 days in the soil and no show/grow, i'd take a peek and see what's going on, but i have seen some slower sprouters than that
genetics are an issue here, some strains do not sprout fast, slow starters can end up being very good plants

alright, still only one making progress....im guessing the seedling stage is supposed to be this slow, planted 5 days ago or so and just starting to get above ground..should be able to see some stem any time now...gotta be the worst and most boring phase of the whole thing

So for now the seeds are in that weird soil...it gets really clumped up, muddy n hard packed. I know that more airy soil is what MJ needs so i should either start planting in different soil or transplant the ones in the weird soil into better stuff.....Can i get dirt from my back yard garden, i know its not ideal, but i live in a part of the world where there is tons of farming and plants like rhubarb, flowers and pretty much anything we try grows real nice...let alone being a MJ hot spot...what do ya think?

you could try outdoor soil, a compost heap would be ideal, but that's probably not likely
pest come in with outdoor soil, i bake soil at 200 degrees F in an oven for an hour or so, called pasteurizing as opposed to sterlizing

so you would recommend getting some good garden soil and baking it? What exactly do you do when baking your soil? ..only trick is getting good dirt from the garden without the families gardener realizing :P

baking is one way of dealing with pests, not the only way, commercial greenhouses use this method(or steaming) to control pests
when i say bake, it's a very light bake, 200F isn't enough to boil water
soil is a living thing, baking it hard will kill it, and that's not so nice for growing
when you bring in an outside soil, you bring in pests that no longer have the natural controls of the outside, predator insects, etc.
bring that inside and the pest take over, maybe, depends on the soil and how it made, local conditions, and many other things

Is the first couple of weeks re-vegging supposed to look horrible? i mean what can you expect after cutting the plant in half, but shit..looks like she's just slowly dying

On another note doing a mass germination.....puttin most of em outside..if i get too many i can either give em away or hide em somewhere outdoor..tired of not having a plant...

lol didnt think white pot leaves existed...............Got really impatient..my biggest growing downfall besides cash..the one seed that has looked like its doing something didnt do anything for a day or two..removed some dirt n couldnt see anything tried moving the seed :S :S realize that is a reeeetarded thing to do..but anyways the seed didnt move..any most of it is above dirt now so that tells me that there is a root thats in there pretty good..and i just yanked on it a bit...stuupid..

yeah, that's something you have to do to realise it's something you shouldn't do - yanking on sprouting seeds has no up side

stoned n tired..not an excuse i like to use, but one i will in this case. didnt pull all that hard, but still.....i've heard if you stress the seed the whole plant can suffer through every stage....atleast i got like 20 seeds germing right now..so i can pick whichever one i want (pending some grow) n hide the rest (if the grow to harvest some random outdoor location than great..if they get ripped or die...well someone gets free weed or the earth gets somethin to decompose)

just a piss off when you got no access to clones / seeds...just shitty bag seed my buddy had...n i just had my dog bump my box and the seed/planter fell over....guess that thing is done...got one that has signs of something. not touching the thing at all other than a bit of misting...hope those 20 im germin can get atleast one that i can clone off of...gettin pissed off n ready to fuck it all together to be honest..

put the reveg outside encountered some serious stressing, but to be honest i dont care about that one much anyway.....n planted a clone inside n outside...see what happens..nothin on the germ so far.......kinda sketched to grow in my outdoor location, but its the best one ive seen so far....aside from the street light thats too close :S............theres already dead pot plants there...presumably from my brother, who would probably rip mine once their ripe..dooouche

Good news for once. Mass germination had one pop real early, put it in outdoor soil (was too lazy to boil it :S, thanks for the advice tho, everything planted in this shit always flourishes) Put it in the dirt and covered this one up..unlike my other ones. Within HOURS saw it popping up from the dirt and this morning continuing to do so, finally have a little hope that this will work out :P once the plants started ill shut down this thread n start a new one

How much water should a seed be receiving? soil is drying out decently quickly...as im just spraying a bit on the top,,,mainly just a goood misting is what im doing

glad things are improving, sounds like some better dirt
soil should dry out on top, this will have the root grow towards the moisture, i.e. down
if the top is the wettest part, you get root growth there, which is not where you want it
so water maybe ever 2-3 days, not every day, if you feel you have to the seed is probably not deep enough in the soil
but you'll have to make the call because conditions always vary somewhat

so you would say water it till run off every now and than? the dirt was fairly dry from the start. All i've done is plant it and mist it..nothin to get water too deep..was worried about rotting. planted another one same-ish soil...saw red ant/spider lookin thing..didnt look small enough to be a spider mite tho..obviously not good, but saw one n haven't seen any others...tried killin it but it was an elusive motherfucker n went too close to the seed for me to fuck with

not sure what you mean by the seed isnt deep enough in the soil..alot of people have it sticking 2/3s out apparently, and i covered it from the beginning..broken through now though. misunderstanding perhaps
